On this day in history, 15th January 1559, the daughter of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII was crowned Queen Elizabeth I.
Elizabeth Tudor had risen above her illegitimate status and the reputation of her mother to become monarch and she was to be one of the greatest monarchs of English history. She may have been “the lion’s cub” but she was also Anne Boleyn’s legacy.
