December 16: Anne Boleyn's Gate
Today's Tudor treat from the Anne Boleyn Files Advent Calendar is a photo from Susan Abernethy, historian, author and blogger at The Freelance History Writer
Thank you, Susan!
This photo shows intricate carvings under Anne Boleyn's Gate at Hampton Court Palace. You can see several symbols such as the large Tudor Rose in the center, surrounded by smaller symbols, including a fleur-de-lis, the Boleyn falcon and the Beaufort portcullis. There’s also a small carving with the initial’s ‘A’ and ‘H’ for Anne and Henry.
