Birth

There is much controversy over Anne Boleyn’s birthdate, with some historians believing that she was born at Blickling Hall in 1501 and others choosing to believe that she was born at Hever Castle in 1507. Read “When was Anne Boleyn Born?” for more details.

  1. I have been an Anne Boleyn fan since I was a young girl and have studied astrology for over 40 years. Unless I have totally lost my mind ( which is always an option), I remember seeing in an old book years ago on astrological lovers who have gone down through history. I remember the chapter on Anne Boleyn and King Henry the VIII. She had a birthdate in Februrary and they compaired her with King Henry……….I recall the comparrison of their charts the makings of a perfect storm………..a Venus Pluto conjunction between them that had the makings of an all consuming love which had all the properties of sexxual obsession , etc………..unfortunately, through the years, the book was lost and I have searched unsuccessfully to find her birthday…………

  2. I believe that Anne Boleyn was born around April time because it is thought that she had many traits of being an Aries. I have no fact to back up this thought but it is what I believe. ~ThatBoleynGal

  3. I have always been facinated by Anne Boleyn and have done some research on her. Her birthday has not been found but many think she was born between 1501 and 1507 I believe she was born in early April from the 4-10 from personality traits. Aries are independent and have a lust for passion and love. They believe the partners should be equal: her wanting to marry Henry VIII and not become mistress and as for the year I believe 1504 because that is shown around the times she was first mentioned in many letters and/or books/paintings. So in all I believe about April 8th 1504

    1. I don’t think something as ridiculous as aries traits can put her in april. Virginia Clay says something about Henry and ann calculating their love by their astrology sign, that is somthing different. as it is them finding out their traits. but you can be a complete scorpio and be born in summer. the traits are also always very vage and change constantly. nice theory but not a fact or something a historian should concider. If you want to believe she was an aries, you can.

  5. Do the Royal accounts and inventories say anything about expenses for Queen Anne at any given time of the year? I know Henry showered her with gifts year-round but usually it’s marked down with some detail, such as XXX gold cup for a New Year’s gift for the Duchess of Somewhere etc. Are there any expenditures for Anne that would otherwise have no alternative explanation?
Regarding year, I look at the words of Jane Dormer, Duchess of Feria when she wrote; “She was convicted and condemned and was not yet twenty-nine years of age.”
And also William Camden, when writing on the early years of Queen Elizabeth I, had access to the private papers of Lord Burghley, who listed Queen Anne’s year of birth as MDVII (1507)
