This is one of my absolute faves – The song is My Last Breath by Evanescence.
playnext_from=TL&videos=dbaPtX2QPUs
Another favorite (the vid is private now, so you'd have to ask the vidder http://www.youtube.com/user/Na…..lizabeth24 for a link to it), is the song Not Ready To Make Nice by The Dixie Chicks.
Elizabeth I – Anne Boleyn's Triumph uses music from the Elizabeth: Golden Age movie (“My Name Is Lincoln”) to show the parallels between mother and daughter, as well as their very different destinies.
"Don't knock at death's door.
Ring the bell and run. He hates that."
I was in the Tower of London last May 19th and while standing on Tower Green, this came on my IPod…

Why” by ANNIE LENNOX
How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey… this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me…
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard it said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides…
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
(this boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let's go down to the water's edge
we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me…
Why
Tell me…
Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears…
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel
'cause i don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I fear
You don't know what I fear
I was rooted to the spot, as it was the first time that I really listened to the lyrics. Annie sings it with such passion, from research, she has good reason as she was in a “Henryesque” relationship herself. However, I think it could have been written for Anne.
I added this track to a slide show I made of my trip to the Tower and it will always remind me of Tower Green, it gives me shivers every time I hear it
What do you all think?
If it was not this, then it would be something else?

A lot of songs by Evanescence remind me of Anne and Henry… Tori Amos has a few.. Crucify is one that she said she wrote about her. Wunderkind by Alanis Morrisette reminds me more of Elizabeth than Anne.
– Wunderkind by Alanis Morrisette
– Crucify by Tori Amos
– Good Enough by Evanescence
Let not my enemies sit as my jury
I love the YouTube videos of clips of “The Tudors” to Pink's “Please Don't Leave Me” and “Missing” by Evanescence and I think Pink's song goes quite well with the love/hate, passionate relationship between Henry & Anne, they brought out the worst and best in each other:-
I don't know if I can yell any louder
How many time I've kicked you outta here?
Or said something insulting?
Da da da, da da
I can be so mean when I wanna be
I am capable of really anything
I can cut you into pieces
But my heart is broken
Da da da, da da
Please don't leave me
Please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
How did I become so obnoxious?
What is it with you that makes me act like this?
I've never been this nasty
Da da da, da da
Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest
But baby I don't mean it
I mean it, I promise
Da da da, da da
Please don't leave me
Oh please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
I forgot to say out loud how beautiful you really are to me
I cannot be without, you're my perfect little punching bag
And I need you, I'm sorry
Da da da, da da
Da da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da
Please, please don't leave me
(Da da da, da da)
Baby please don't leave me
(Da da da, da da)
No, don't leave me
Please don't leave me no no no
You say I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back
It's gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
Please don't leave me, oh no no no.
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please don't leave me
Baby, please, please don't leave me
“Missing” by Evanescence kind of speaks to me about how Anne haunts Henry. They had such a passionate relationship that he surely must have looked at Jane Seymour sometimes and think “What have I done?”:-
Whispered:
Can you stop the fire?
Can you stand to fight her?
You cant stop the fire,
you wont say the words.
Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
Maybe someday you'll look up,
And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one:
“Isn't something missing?”
You won't cry for my absence, I know –
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant…?
Am I so insignificant…?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?
Whispered:
Can you stop the fire?
Can you stand to fight her?
You cant stop the fire,
you wont say the words.
Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
I know what you do to yourself,
I breathe deep and cry out;
“Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?”
Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?
And if I bleed, I'll bleed,
Knowing you don't care.
And if I sleep just to dream of you
I'll wake without you there,
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something…….
Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Whispered:
Can you stop the fire?
Can you stand to fight her?
You cant stop the fire,
you wont say the words.
Debunking the myths about Anne Boleyn
Wow, Paudie, the verse where Annie sings:-
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears…
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel
I can see how that must have caused quite a reaction in you hearing that on such a day.
Debunking the myths about Anne Boleyn
The Tower is such an amazing place, so steeped in history every few feet, it is another piece of history one can touch. The thing that got me most is that it all exists still, in every way. The Tower is still a Royal Palace and still a working garrisoned fort, where soldiers still go on duty. Within its walls, while much has changed, much is still the same too, that sense of standing in history rather than just visiting a historic site.
Soon Claire!
Very soon…
If it was not this, then it would be something else?

Which vidder do you like best, Claire? I did a YouTube search and there are about 10 listed.

The one I like is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..xqcrRJ9c4g and it's by Love100001. Love that one.

I have a couple of newly discovered songs (well, new to me) that make me think of Anne.
1) Anne by Kayak from their album, Persiscope Life. (This song, while ignoring some historical innacuraies, speaks about Anne's life, her fall from grace, and Elizabeth's rise to power. My favourite part is how Anne haunts Henry till the end, “with her mocking laugh.”
2) Hero by Heather Dale
3)Time of Dying by Three Days Grace (This song make me think of both Anne and her “sweet brother,” George as they both near death, and how they always found comfort in one another.
4) Dance with the Devil by Breaking Benjamin (Henry being the devil).

There are so many songs with brilliant lyrics. For me, my 'Anne song' is Close by Econoline Crush:
Shadows dance lazily,
Across this dim lit room,
Are you my enemy, my lover, my ruin?
Warm and shallow are,
The waters of your soul,
It's my difference, my hurt that makes you whole.
You lift me up,
Drag me down,
And here I am,
Alone.
Searching for serenity,
In the halls of discontent,
Pieces of my sanity, my will, my hope have left,
I don't understand,
Where this all began,
Are you my enemy, my lover, my ruin?
You are so far away,
You are so far away,
You lift me up,
You drag me down,
You leave me so alone.
You lift me up,
You drag me down,
You leave me so alone.
I watch you turn away…I watch you
I watch you turn away…crying
I've been listening to this song for years, but the lyrics suddenly make me think of Anne.

Some great songs here, and all could be for Anne. Glad that people posted the lyrics. I'll never listen to 'Why' by Annie Lennox in the same way again.
While reading all your posts a fav song of mine came into my head, so I went and found the lyrics. It's 'Cry Over me' by Meat loaf. (It's from the Bat Out of Hell 3 album)
“Another night sleepless
I don't want to feel this
Nothing can stop this pain
Trying to get to
A time I forget you
Still tangled in yesterday
It's so easy for you
To forget about me
Did you ever feel anything?
I want you to cry over me
Die over me
Even for a moment
Even for a moment
I want you to hurt over me
Feel what I feel
I want you to cry over
Die over me
Just one time
I want your heart broken
Some sign of emotion
Want to see the tears tumble down
Show me I meant something
And that you feel nothing
But your world crashing to the ground
It's so easy for you
To forget about me
Did I ever mean anything?
I want you to cry over me
Die over me
Even for a moment
Even for a moment
I want you to hurt over me
Feel what I feel
I want you to cry over
Die over me
Just one time
Well did you feel something?
Did we mean nothing at all?
I want you to cry over
Die over me
Just one time
I want you to cry over
Die over me
Want you to fall on your knees
Crawl back to me
Want you to cry over
Die over me
Just one time”

Melissa said:Coldplay's Viva La Vida always makes me think of Anne. The song became popular right when The Tudors was covering her fall and execution and it seemed so appropriate.
The you HAVE to watch this!
