If you own I think the 1st Tudors season the desendants thing is on that one, I forget how they said they were related but they were whether from his sister’s kids or whatever.
Boleyn,
One of theses days i’m gonna have to go on Ancestry.com and see what comes up, maybe I do have some British hertiage somewhere which would be very cool. Yeah it’s kind of werid having a full blooded German as a father then my mother’s father being full Russian – they were, like, complete enemies right? But i’ve always wanted to have some kind of exotic bloodline like French or Italian because that culture interests me more than German or Russian or Luthaian or Polish does; but hey, I am what I am.
Mya,
You have a very interesting and diverse ethnic background. I wish mine was more diverse. I am like most people on the east coast of Canada: mostly of Celtic descent (Irish, Scot, and Welsh), English, Briton, and some French. It’s a pretty bland mix.
It must be interesting to have a German father and Russian grandfather. I imagine a world of difference?

I wish we had more of Anne’s possessions. Although, most were probably destroyed after her death. Some were given to Elizabeth, but lost through time.
As for her wedding ring, would that be considered part of the royal household, and be returned to Henry after his annulment from Anne?

You have a very interesting and diverse background. When I was looking up my family’s background I went to the
Ellis Island site. Found all kinds of goodies about my family there. My husband is German and Irish. He has traced his German roots back to the 1500’s. His German ancesters were Huegonots. They left France for Germany because of religious persecution. They came to America very early on. His family fought the British during the revolution. His Irish ancestors came over during the famine of 1848.
My Mom’s family is Slovak from two separate villages in the Carpathian mountain range of Slovakia. My grandparents lived like 20 miles from each other and didn’t meet until they had been here in America for a while.
My Dad’s father is from a mountain village in southern Italy, and his Mom is from a mountain village in Sicily. My slovak grandfather was on the same ship my italian uncle was on when they came to America. They did not meet there. They met many years later when my Mom and Dad got married. I don’t even know if they ever found out they were on the same ship. I found the info when I was looking at my granfather’s ship’s list of passengers.
My Sicilian family came to Sicily from France with the Normans in the late 12th century. When Caesar took Gaul, he called the people there the Galli. After Caesar defeated Vercingenerix (sp) the Galli tribe scattered in the wind. They are all over Germany, Austria and Italy. I am a Galli from Italy. So originally my family roots were in France. Who knew?
So dig a little. It’s a lot of fun. I also asked my relatives questions and found some very interesting stories.I know what you mean about wishing you had English blood. I have often wondered why I have been so attracted to British history and especially the Tudor era. My theory, I must have lived back then. It’s as good a theory as any, right? ha!

I’ve actually never ever met either of my grandfather’s, my father’s father AND mother were basically…decapitated in a car accident (they fell asleep at the wheel) when my dad was 18 and then my mother hasnt spoken to her father in many many years so all i’ve had was my mother’s mother who is luthanian & polish. So, yeah, it’s bit of a difficult situation. But despite all of that i’ve still always wished I had something more exotic sounding like French or Italian blood but that doesn’t mean i’m ashamed of my backround, I do admit though that i’m kind of sour towards being German because of the whole Nazi and Hitler thing, cruel cruel people.
I would kill for a chance to see an actual piece jewlery or anything for that matter that once belonged to Anne. I haven’t been to England (YET!) so I haven’t gotten to see the Book of hours that was hers but I want to really bad. But to see actual jewlery that once was on her neck would be amazing, and i’d probably be like the lady on the straightalk phone commercial “Name your price”.

Sharon,
Yeah for the crown jewels.
Lady – “How much are they?”
Security Guard – Looks around “The jewels aren’t for sale ma’am.”
Lady – mocks him “The jewels aren’t for sale m’am.” laughs “Seriously, name your price.”
Security Guard – Looks at her dumbly.
Lady – smiles “Do you guys gift wrap?”
LOL, love those commericals.

Yup.
I meant to say, “He says they’re not for sale.”
She just ignores his answers. Laugh out loud funny.
There is lot more to German history than the Nazi era. Who knows you might have some Heugonot blood in you and you may well have originally been of french descent. We are all a great big mix. My family is so proud of their Italian heritage I thought they were going to disown me when I found out they originally came from France with the Normans. I thought it was cool. I didn’t dare tell them their blood might have some Saracen, Greek and/or Byzantine mixed in.
I have a brother-in-law who is Lithuainian. Did you know at one time Lituainia was the largest Duchy in Eastern Europe? It had parts of Germany, Poland and Russia in its territories. Just ask him. He loves talking about it.

To fully appriciate it’s beauty your’ll need at the very least a 3 month stay and even then you wouldn’t have seen everything that England has to offer.. If you do come make sure that you put Wales on your visit list, although do remember if you decide to learn Welsh, you must have a bucket full of Phelm in the throat just to pronouce some of the place names, or to ask the natives a question, just make sure you have an umbrella handy too otherwise you will drenched in dribble from the replies…

I swear one day, before I die, I will visit England even if it kills me. LOL. I’m even planning on living in England for a year or two for no reason at all, just because I admire it so much.
Sharon, I absolutley have to go on Ancestry.com sometime soon to discover where exactly my roots come from. My father is actually very interested in this stuff too so he’ll appreciate it also. I don’t know why but i’m literally obsessed with trying to go back in time and research everything that happend back then. It’s so facsinating to me – anyone who finds History boring needs b*tch slapped or something (j/k) LOL.
Anyanka, here’s the link to the commercial: (it’s hilarious)
Tell me if it doesn’t work because i’ll fix it.

Mya, sweetheart, what a dreadful thing to have happened to grandparents, and your dad was so young too. My dad dropped dead when I was just 19, so I can feel the pain your father must have felt. It’s a horrible thing to say, when I say that I’m glad my father died the way he did,but I don’t mean it in a horrible way I mean that at least he didn’t suffer.
As for feeling “sour” towards your German ancestary, there is no need. Hilter etc is all water under the bridge. Take pride in your heritage it’s made you what you are today. It’s the person you are right now that’s important and if anyone doesn’t like you because of what went on in the past, well that just there loss isn’t it, and their problem. I see a wonderful young lady with a loving heart, I love and appreiciate all that you are, and cherish our freindship too.
Dinosaur’s father’s line actually came from Germany, it seems they came over with William the Conqueror in 1066. Of course the surname is now more English, but it was at the time of the Conqueror, Von Stell, So Dinosaur has a real mix different cultures too.
As for my family we are a Heinz 57 a real mix of everything, with a little bit of salt and pepper in for taste, and maybe just a side order of fries if you are still feeling hungry?

Boleyn, Thanks. My father to this day actually tells me how much he wishes me and my brothers could of met his parents especially his mother, he says I remind him of his mother. I wish I could of met her also. And she (my father’s mother) was actually related to the Hatfields (Hatfields & McCoy’s, anyone?) and my father likes to tell stories about her and everything and then my father’s father’s father was in old western movies and also my dad’s cousin, i think, is a famous football player (another relative I haven’t met).
When it comes to the Hitler thing, I just hate how cruel he was to Jewish people, I understand hating someone because they did something bad to you but hating just because someone looks or believes different is….unecessary. Anyone ever see the movie ‘Boy in the striped pajama’s’? That movie tore my heart out. I know that just because i’m German doesn’t make me anything like the cruel people who lived years ago but sometimes I hold resentment towards it.

Anne was crowned with St. Edwards Crown, although its been extensively remodeled, and is on display at the Tower along with the rest of the Crown Jewels. So there is still some of Anne’s ‘jewellery’ around in a sense!
It’s a nice idea, but to be honest I think it’s actually unlikely, as the Crown Jewels were broken up and sold off during Cromwell’s reign and in anycase Anne was crowned with St Edward’s crown, but it wasn’t hers as such as it belonged to the King/Queen and the country, and therefore Anne couldn’t have added one of her own Jewels to it even if she had wanted too, granted it could cut to fit the shape of the wearers head but I don’t think it would have been altered in any other way. Well who knows hey it’s certainly would be nice to think that perhaps one of Anne’s jewels survived Cromwell crusher..
