Applogies if this has already been discussed but …. do we know any information as to where Anne got her famous B necklace from? Was it a gift? Did she commission it? What are your thoughts?

Hmm I think she would have had it made for her, as she also had a AB necklace and a HA. They were also set the same way, with the 3 pearl drops, maybe that was her favourite style…

Good point about the three pieces possibly being made at the same time. Is there any mention of the B necklace before her marriage to Henry? If so, they may not have been made at the same time, since I don't think it would have been appropriate to make the HA necklace/brooch before they were married. And since Anne refused to sleep with Henry until she was sure of their marriage happening, I don't think she'd have had the HA made before then, either. JMO, of course.
ETA: Maybe the HA piece was a gift from Henry upon their marriage, deliberately styled to resemble the A and B necklaces, which already existed?

I remember reading somewhere that initial pendants were popular in the 16th century. So, they could have been a common piece of jewelry to come by for someone's of Anne economic status. Regardless, her necklace is as famous as she, and has helped to solidify her identity.
I've always felt that, by wearing her B pendant even after marriage, Anne was making a clear statement. She was a women of an independent mind and nature. She would always be a Boleyn, even as Queen. A very modern statement if you ask me. Antonia Fraser was spot on in her assessment of Anne when she coined her as “curiously modern” (Fraser, 1992).
I often wear my own surname pendant to declare my own undying independence, but also as my tribute to Anne (which, sadly, most people misunderstand).

Wonder where that necklace has gone! Maybe tucked away somewhere in a private collection, the owner not knowing its significance.
I bought a replica “B” necklace from the Tower of London last year for £20. A bit expensive but a pride of place in my collection!
I too bought my B necklace from the Tower of London when I went in May. I have it on display with my Tudor Tree 🙂
