There are many books out there about Anne. Eric Ives Anne Boleyn is very good.. Try to avoid Phillipa Gregory books if you can or if you do read them don’t take them as sacrosanct.
David Loades I believe wrote a book about Anne.
Dr David Starkey’s book about Henry and crew is brilliant.
Antonia Frazer and Alison Weir books are also good.
As for DVD’s there is a box set series of all of Henry’s wives. It was made in the 70’s, Keith Michelle plays Henry it is very good. There is also a film made in 1972 again with Keith Michelle as Henry. Both are called Henry 8th and his Six Wives.

Have you seen The Tudors? Not 100% accurate, but what a show! One of my favorite movies is Anne of the Thousand Days, with Richard Burton and Genevieve Bujold.
Here is a list of movies and documentaries all about Tudor history. http://www.luminarium.org/renl…..8films.htm
If you go to “What are we all reading” found in off-Topic Chat on this forum, you will find tons of books, fiction and non-fiction along with tons of comments about them. Goodreads has a list of many of them. http://www.goodreads.com/shelf…..or-dynasty Have fun!

Yep with you there Sharon. The Tudors is very inaccurate but boy is it addictive too. I found out the other night tha Dr Dave Starkey was invol;ved somewhere alone the line with the production.
Anne of a Thousand days is fantastic. Somehow I can just see Anne being just like that. And of course Richard Burton just completely rocked.
Fantastic Actor and sorely missed.

Totally agree Richard’s voice and the power it had was just wonderful. Have you ever heard of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, Album?
Richard Burton was the narrator in that and his voice was so superb that the story was believable.
And who can forget Anthony and Cleopatra. Fantastic.

Geneieve is a French Quebecoise which explains the hint of accent when she speaks..Adds that touch of autheniticy..DD2 has a very similar accent unsurprisingly. DD1 has more of an Anglo accent.

Richard Burton could read to me the most boring book in the world and I would be entranced. I think I have heard part of narration of War of the World’s with Richard Burton, but I don’t remember where I heard it. Did the Brits go out and shoot things like Americans did with Orson Well’s production?
You are talking about the movie Cleopatra right? Geez! I loved that movie. I watch it all the time. Love Liz and Richard together.
I think when Anne first came back from France, she probably had a slight French accent. I lived in NYC for three months when I was fourteen. In the beginning, the people laughed at my accent. When I came home, my friends laughed at my new accent. Sometimes you can’t win. It doesn’t take long to pick up the local accent when you hear it everyday.
Anyway, I loved Bujold’s accent. I thought it was perfect for Anne.

Yep I agree Genevieve just had that certain something, that no actress has come close to getting.
Accents are funny things. Although born in Sussex, We moved to Worcestershire when I was 4 and there I stayed up until 4 years ago when I moved down to Kent. So by rights as I lived in Worcestershire for 42 years I should have a Worcestershire accent, nope I don’t for some bizzarre reason I have a Devon accent. My kids and my brother have Worcestershire accents however. Strange thing is I’ve never ever been to Devon. Figure that one out?

If your looking for the most accurate then i’d recommend ‘Anne of a thousand days’, the lead actress who plays Anne looks and acts and has the Anne Boleyn quality to her, more than any other actress who’s played our Anne. It’s really a great movie.
If your looking for entertaining then i’d highly recommend ‘The other Boleyn girl’ movie & book, it’s not accurate in any shape or form but it IS quite entertaining and Natalie Portman plays a good FICTIONAL take of Anne Boleyn.
And if your looking for something to really get into then get ‘The Tudors’ TV series. It’s not all that accurate, it has more inaccuracies than anything but it’s still an amazing show to watch and Natalie Dormer (Anne) is such a great actress and really brings the real Anne’s fiesty and firey side to life. But if you haven’t heard it is very….what’s the word?….naughty. Caution. Lol.
Then books, I liked Alison Weir even though like Phillipa Gregory (author of The other Boleyn girl) likes fade the line between what’s actuality and what’s pure rumor. Eric Ives is an amazing author and gives Anne the justice she deserves in his books. Also the book ‘Threads’ by Nell Gavin and ‘To die for’ by Sandra Byrd are 2 amazing books. I loved them.
• Grumble all you like, this is how it’s going to be.

For books, I’d recommend Eric Ives “The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn.” It is the definitive biography of Anne, and Ives does an amazing job of bringing her to life. I also liked David Starkey or Antonia Fraser’s book on the six wives.
For movies/tv, I love “Anne of the Thousand Days.” Bujold is brillant as Anne. I love to hate “The Tudors.” Natalie Dormer is worth the watch.

For non-fiction i would recommend the Eric Ives bio and also Elizabeth Nortons book ‘Anne Boleyn: In Her Own Words & the Words of Those Who Knew Her’. Also Claire’s new book ‘The Fall of Anne Boleyn: A Countdown’. Have yet to read it myself but it should be excellent And Alison Weirs ‘The Lady in the Tower’ isn’t too bad either.
Jean Plaidys Tudor novels are very good pieces of non-fiction, ‘Murder Most Royal’ combines Anne’s and Katherine Howards stories.
For TV shows I’d go with ‘The Six Wives of Henry VIII’. It was made in the 70’s but still brilliant!
