Have you ever seen the episode of Friends where they all buy wedding dresses to wear around the house? I think a lot of girls secretly wish things like hoop skirts would come back into fashion. My personal favorite is Renaissance hats, like the cute little Elizabethan riding bonnets they wear on the Tudors. If this site sold those, I'd try to figure out a way to wear them with jeans! Anyway, I think I took this thread even further off topic. Buy the dress and wear with pride!

No it's not odd! I'm going to buy one, once I have a birthday or something and I get gift money or whatever, and wear it around the house too! And maybe take a picture of me in it and pretend it's a Hans Holbein…Plus, whenever I get married in the future I want to wear a Tudor wedding dress.

It is weird how your whole demeanour changes when you put one of the dresses on. I'm not sure whether it's the boning that makes you sit and stand properly or whether it's just in the mind but I suddenly feel very queen-like when I put my dress on. It's a wonderful feeling.
Impish, you'll have to have to have a meal or party and force everyone to wear costume so that you get chance to wear your dress!

Claire and Impish_Impulse, I'm going to do the same thing! I haven't bought an Anne dress yet but I will, and I'll either wear a long, dark Anne wig, or just wear my hair long. And, Impish, the Pembroke dress is sooo pretty!! I'm jealous Once you put it on, take a picture and send it to the forum!

Claire,
It's about an inch long now, but it's always been 'difficult' hair (multiple cowlicks and completely refuses to curl), and now is no different. It lays down on the sides, and sticks straight up on top! If it were longer, it would look like a faux-hawk, but as is, it just looks weird. *sigh*
I'm thinking about dyeing it blonde. Or blue, or even scarlet! Gotta have some fun with it, right? And it's not like it would take long to grow out.
PS – I also have a surgery date – Sept. 8th. Send good thoughts my way that day.

Impish I hope everything goes well for you! I'll definitely say a prayer for your surgery on the 8th. As I mentioned in an above post, I love hats. If I were you, I'd forget the wigs and faux-hawk (though dying it blonde or blue could also be awesome!) and get some awesome hats. Perhaps we on this site were meant to bring the French hood back into style!

Thanks, Melissa! I didn't go the wig route – I have a bunch of scarves (mostly pre-tied) and hats. I have to make sure to wear earrings or more feminine tops so that people won't see the hat and call me Sir. But at home and around family, it's just too doggone hot, so I go 'commando', as the gals on http://www.breastcancer.org forums call going out bald or with stubble only. There are some funny stories about women saying the wig was too hot, so they just ripped it off while driving home from work, and then seeing people in the cars around them doing a double take! LOL.

Good luck for Sept 8th Impish – I'll be sure to sure to send good thoughts all the way from New Zealand on the day! Oooh, I suppose your Sept 8th would be our Sept 9th though, wouldn't it? Must make a mental note to remember the time difference
If you are going to dye your hair, go scarlet! I've often thought about dying my hair that shade but bad colour choices in the past have kinda put me off. Learnt the hard way that I am NOT a blonde !

I bought myself the B necklace last year for my birthday and I wear it every day. It goes with everything! I've gotten a lot of comments, mostly people wanting to know where I got and where they can get one. I point them in the right direction lol. I am saving for the Tudor Rose dress. I think that will be a present to myself after I get my Masters degree.
Good luck on Sept. 8 Impish!
Impish,
I'll definitely be thinking of you and praying for you on the 8th. Yes, have some fun with your hair and accessories. Your comment about women taking their wigs off while driving home made me laugh! It must be so uncomfortable to wear a wig all day long on a hot day – very itchy. Any way, we'll be thinking of you.
Noelle7, the B necklace is such a conversation starter isn't it, when people ask “Why are you wearing a B when your name is…?”. When are you due to get your Masters degree? Good luck with it all.

Another good luck wish!! Carolyn, don't stress about it. There have been four fairly recent surgeries in my family, though none of them mine, and all came out happier for it. I will pray for you on the eighth.
Ooh, I think electric blue or scarlet would be so cool! And you're lucky with short hair, you can easily wear an Anne wig 🙂

I really want to get one of the dresses to wear for Halloween, even though I'll just be at the house. I'm also planning on having a Tudor dress when I get married. I've got several pairs of Daniela's earrings just to wear with my every day clothes 🙂 I also got a Anne Boleyn necklace with my initial today. I like adding little bits of Tudor style to what I wear each day.
