Sorry if this has been asked ( as i'am new ) but which actress do you think could play Anne and why? Mine is Leighton meester. Since i saw her on t.v she looked like the ideal Anne. ( BTW my mum has always said since i can remember Martine McCutcheon)[Image Can Not Be Found]and Leighton[Image Can Not Be Found]

I've also thought about Leighton as Anne, she does kind of give off that confident Anne vibe.
For me I could see these people playing Anne: Kate Beckinsale, Alexis Blendel, maybe Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson, Camilla Luddington, and some others but I can't think of their names at the moment.
Physically, my favorites so far are Genevieve Bujold & Natalie Portman. They both look the way I picture Anne in my head. They both have the dark hair & eyes, long faces, big eyes, long noses. Which is something both Beckinsale & Stewart have.
But acting wise, my favorites are Genevieve, Natalie Dormer, and Portman. Although I hate The other Boleyn girl I think Portman and all the actors did very very well. And all three of these ladies made me tear up during the execution scene.

Helena Bonham Carter. I think made a fairly convincing Anne.
But I think that each actress who has played Anne has brought their own ideas on how Anne actually was in real life.
We can never ever be 100% sure of course how Anne was. I think Geneneive Bujold captured Anne's tempestious, and stormy nature to a T.
But somehow other actresses who have played Anne haven't been able to produce that Genevieve spark.
I'd like to see how Emily Blunt would portray Anne (she'd have to dye her hair or wear a wig LOL) but she did play a good Jane Seymour, and she was rather good as Cecil's spy in Gunpowder, Treason and Plot. She does seem to be able to play a good historical part.
Srangley enough I've not heard of Leighton? If you could be kind enough to tell me what she has starred in I'll check her out.
How about Catherine Zeta Jones as Anne?
Either way I think we can all agree who ever portrays Anne will bring their own ideas into the film or TV drama of how they feel Anne was..
LOL I've just had a funny thought, wouldn't it be funny to invent a time machine and bring Anne back and show her how all the actresses have played her over the years? I could see her now giving each actress what for, when they messed up..
I also think Anne would be apsolutely stunned that even afte all these years there are still people who lov and remember her, and her Daughter Elizabeth. Anne's sacrifice gave us one of England's greatest monarchs and for that we owe Anne a tremendous debt of gratitude..

Thank you Marilyn, Yeah I think maybe you are right she certainly does look ike she could play Anne, but isn't this Gossip GirlProgramme American? If it is she's going to play Anne she'll have to practise getting the British accent right. Maybe a few months in Kent might help her with accent as Anne was brought up here, and our dialect is very different to a London accent.

I have always imagined Anne to look quiet Audrey Hepburn-ish. Thin and elegant, long neck, big eyes… (Although obviously her being dead makes it unlikely) or Morena Baccarin…
Genevieve Bujold was my favorite Anne 🙂
Thank you Ellie, Another good choice (I hope you don't mind me calling you Ellie, just yell if you do) Yeah again she's got that Anne look. Genevieve Bujold was wonderful and she just bounced of Richard Burton brilliantly, but then Richard Burton was a fabulous actor anyway.
Now who would you get to Play Henry?
BTW Ellie thank you for sharing you pictures of K.H

I know what you mean about The Other Boleyn Girl, although I did kind of like the film, there were a few scenes that really got up my bugle but it was ok.
It was the book that really got me angry at one point I nearly threw it out the window. However The Boleyn Inheritence, The Red Queen and The White Queen were ok, well it was something to read whilst having a long hot soak in the bath.. LOL

Emily Blunt played Katheryn Howard not Jane Seymour, but yeah I could see Emily playing Anne….

Playing Henry, well there are only few actors I could see pulling the 'tyrant' King off, but my father actually has a friend named Keith who looks exactly like Henry VIII's portraits. It's so crazy how much the faces are alike – actually everything is alike because Keith although he's bald he has red/orangey colored beard, he has brown eyes but other than that the resemblence is….amazing. I wish I could post a photo of something but I have no photo's of him.

No problem Boleyn – of course you can call me Ellie 😀
For Henry I would definitely choose… Sean Bean haha! He has that smouldering grumpiness I imagine Henry to have.

How about Rufus Sewell to play Henry? he was good as Charles 2nd.
Helen McCrory as Anne of Cleves.
Anne Marie Duff as Anne Boleyn.
Emma Pierson as Katherine Howard.
Shirley Henderson as Catherine of Aragon.
Clemence Poesy as Jane Seymour.
Carmen Ungureau as Catherine Parr
Charles Dance as the Duke or Norfolk, Somehow he seemed to be able to play two faced charaters to a T. I rather think that the Duke of Norfolk was like that in real life. He was certainly ambitious that's for sure, but was extremely shallow to when it came to that ambition, it was a case of blow you jack I'm ok, when his family got into trouble, as his star trek moment proved.
Robert Carlisle as Robert Aske
Rupert Graves as Duke of Suffolk..

After taking sme time to think about it I would cast these people –
Henry VIII: Sean Bean
Katherine of Aragon: Rachelle Lefevre
Anne Boleyn: Selma Brook
(French actress. She was in The Tudors as Bridgette, the Duke of Suffolk's mistress. She has the looks and the accent!)
Jane Seymour: Evanna Lynch
Anne Of Cleves: Danielle Panabaker
Katherine Howard: Kate Mara
Katherine Parr: Lauren Holly
This is all going by looks and how I imagine the wives looked…

I'm sorry to say it but I've not heard of any of the actors or actresses your've mention here Mya?
I must be getting old but they sound intresting. It would certainly be interesting to see how they portray each charater.. BTW please excuse my dreadful spelling and puncuation.. it's a complete shambles I know but I do have a bash at it, and I do think I manage to get my point across.
I think Elizabeth charater would be quite a hard part to play as she was very complex and a real mix of temperements Henry was a firebrand, hard and I think at times sadistic, although this side never came out in Elizabeth thankfully. Anne on the other hand was a firebrand, too but also had a wit and I think perhaps a soft side to her nature, which thankfully came out in Elizabeth, as her behaviour to Mary Queen of Scots showed, as she was extremely reluctant to execute her even through she knew she had to. It also showed when she signed the death warrants for her cousin the Duke of Norfolk and for Robert Devereux again she didn't want him to die but she knew he must, as he was the last link to the only man she ever loved truly.
Which leads me to a question Do you think she would have married Robert Dudley if A) he had been free to do so when she became Queen? and B) when Amy died why didn't she marry him?
Got to give Marylyn something to bite on here haven't we? no offence intended Marilyn..
