There's a portrait of Elizabeth, that is slowly degrading to reveal a snake in her hand, and a woman underneath the portrait. Looking at one of the images – what if the painting is of Anne? She looks similar to the Anne Boleyn painting at Hever… What do you guys think?
The mouth seems similar, as does the end of the nose. The eyes look dark and large apart from the right eye which looks light – maybe from some damage. The eye shape is similar too.
This is the original –

Hmm, I like the way the woman in the underportrait looks up at you through her eyelashes. It's rather flirtatious, which matches my vision of Anne. If it IS Anne, it's better done than the Hever painting, less stiff, more lifelike.
But why would Elizabeth have a picture of her mother painted over? Is there any evidence of a “third” portrait between the two? A painting that could have hidden the portrait of Anne and one that Elizabeth wouldn't have minded painting over? If so, what a coincidence that it was chosen to re-use for Elizabeth, and her unknowing Anne's portrait was hidden under hers!

I'll try and 'trace over the second face today on photoshop, to see if I can make it its own picture. Elizabeth was very cunning, maybe she thought the best place to hide her mothers painting would be under her own? The portrait of Elizabeth was done in her later life, so maybe she feared the portrait of her mother would be discovered and destroyed when she died, so this was her way of protecting it?

I love the painting- it's as though Anne has come back back to be with her daughter.. If of course, it it Anne. I thought at first it was a portrait of Elizabeth that she didn't like that had been redone till it found her approval.. But the mouth is too different…

Elliemarianna, what great work, and it does look a lot like Anne to me. I also love your quote, as it is so true about Anne! Mine comes from what Elizabeth said to Sir William Cecil when she received Mary's betrothal ring announcing her death, and her own succession to the crown as an absolute monarch. Anne would have been so proud. So should you as I've been following this for a while. Thank you so very much! WilesWales

Oh! No matter what it's a beautiful picture but yeah the eyebrows look, like, extra slanted down to make her look like she's grimacing or just mad. haha.

Impish, I think they look totally different too. The woman that Ellie has captured from the x-ray is a beautiful woman. Looking at the portrait itself the woman doesn't come close to looking like the x-rayed lady. The shape of the eye is totally different from the way it looks on the x-ray.
Hi, and welcome Deadlyxxnightshade. A third person? An interesting observation.
