I like taking old paintings and restoring them by removing the damage and re-doing parts that need it. I also try to make them a little more 'realistic'. This is one I did recently, I have redone most of the painting, but her face remains the same other than a few additions – such as eyelashes. What do you guys think?
Here is the original:
Here is the restored one:
Sorry its not great – I don't have much time to spend on them now I'm a mum.

That is amazing!! I've never had an artistiic eye so I admire people who can look at something and draw it, paint it, sketch it, sculpt it, somehow recreate it in a different medium and, thus, capture it forever as it is in that moment.
Meanwhile, my students and I make fun of my artwork when I'm forced to draw or sketch something for class. My favorite sketches are the stick frog, stick cricket/grasshopper, and the stick horse (which, my students have informed me, looks like a swing set).
Out of curiosity, what tools do you use to restore paintings? So many very old paintings look so fragile, I've always wondered how it's possible to clean them and repair them without further damaging them.
