I know everyone here admire's Anne. Heck, i've even grown to love her.
But despite our love for Anne…was there anything, anything at all, that you didn't like about her?
Personaly i honestly can't think of anything to dislike but that's me, but i do think that sometimes her temper got the better of her. My sister is very… hot headed and when she's like that i usually just stay calm and not talk to her till she's 'sane' so i know what it's like to deal with who's temper gets the better of them. I even have moments when i'm mad where i say and do things i later regret.

I agree with you on the temper thing, I can picture Anne as being somewhat volatile, especially if under stress and pressure. I also wonder what it would have been like to serve her as queen. I've read that she could be strict with her ladies so I hope that didn't translate into out and out meaness.

I think I'd have a short temper given all the stress Anne was under both before and during her marriage to Henry. To a degree that's very understandable but her treatment of Mary wasn't.
A lot of the stuff she did was bourne out of Anne's insecurities but it was still very petty. I know Anne asked Lady Kingston to beg Mary for forgiveness of her behaviour just before her death.
It's always bunnies.

Poor Anne, who accidentally attracted the attentions of a king, yet tried to deny him again and again. The King kept trying and trying till she gave in and lost, she yielded her heart and soul to him, but not her body. Her religious convictions wouldn't allow that, nor did she wish to be discarded as her sister once was. So for seven years, the King, handsome, gentle Harry, promised her one day that she would be Queen of England, that he would love her only, and forever. They would have many sons, and rule together – happily ever after…
Finally the day comes! She is Queen! An heir grows in her belly. She couldn't be happier! She is “The most happy”!
She enters her confinement, happily awaiting the birth of her son, heir to the throne of England! The Kings Saviour!
Unfortunately, after the agonies of childbirth, she discovers the child is not a son, but a daughter. The love the king bares her, which was once so great, slowly begins to die. The passion he felt, slowly burning out as he is distracted by new, younger women at court. She looses more children, and with it, the King. He loves another, a woman she has to see everyday. Who parades around wearing a locket with his portrait close to her heart. A woman who now has the attentions of her once handsome, gentle Harry. The fairytale is over.
Suddenly Anne is alone, her heart is broken.
– If I were her, I'd be grumpy too!

I hate the remark she made about wishing all Spaniards were at the bottom of the sea.
Her daughter granted that wish!

LOL…So you are like Mary Boleyn to your sister who is like Anne? I have a wicked temper and people have learned to stay out of my way when I'm 'insane'. Although as I age my temper has calmed. But there are moments….
I understand Anne's temper and her sarcastic sense of humor. When she became queen, I think the pressure of having that son she promised really started to weigh on her mind. Henry was more than likely being a real bear about Katherine and Mary and Anne fed off of his moods. Maybe she was tired of listening to him complain about them. She may have thought if they were gone, everything would be better between her and Henry. They could get back to the way it was in the beginning. But it never did.
Henry promised to love her. She expected him to take care of her. Her first mistake. With everything she had to worry about, and Ellie has pretty much covered that, I understand her trying to fight back. It seems to me her sarcastic remarks about the Spanish, Katherine, Mary, Jane and anyone else who stood against her, stem from a fear of losing everything. She seems a bit desperate when she makes these comments.
What was the question? Oh right, was there anything you didn't like about her?….No!

I have a little black cat called Morgan who I adore.. She is a devil- she growls and hisses and wrinkles her nose if anyone touches her other than me, she steals food from the kitchen bench, cheese from our plate, she wee's in the bathroom sink and poos in the bath. But all this is swept under the rug and for me she is an Angel. A perfect little angel with a love heart nose.
And I feel the same way about Anne.
… perhaps sans love heart nose…
