Hello all visitors to the Anne Boleyn Files!
To reduce the amount of spam comments on this forum we have significantly increased the amount of spam checking which happens with comments. It all looks like it is working as expected, but IF you see unexpected behaviour or your legitimate posts don’t go onto the forum then please use the contact form to let us know and we’ll work it out!
Here’s hoping the rubbish has gone away!

Well, the new spam filtering seems to be helping – email us if you’re having any problem commenting etc. but since we implemented the new system it has stopped 220417 spam attempts in just one week. Crazy!

I feel so old…when I was running a bulletin board back n the’ 90s, we got 1 or 2 a week…
Modding more recently we were culing 1k a week..

These people are signing up as members and then spamming. Can that be stopped by a filter?

I’m not sure what the software whch this site uses but certainly in the past I have either made new members go onto a moderted list which means that new members have t have thier posts approved by an admin or mod until a minimum post count is reached or else tnew members are not allowed to post links untl a minimum post count is reached.
Both methods have their downsides, the first can be a lot of hassle and both can be defeated by spambots…
