I am related to Mary Boleyn, Anne’s sister. Mary is my 12th great Grandmother. My paternal Grandmother was Kathleen Helen LeBarte Carey. It’s widely believed that Mary had 2 bastard children from her relationship with Henry V111, Catherine Carey and Henry Carey. Mary Boleyn was married to Sir William Carey at the time and so her 2 children from Henry V111 carry the Carey name. Henry’s daughter Elizabeth 1st was very close to her 1/2 sibling Catherine Carey whom she referred to as her cousin and built the largest alabaster monument in Westminster Abbey when she died in 1596. The thing I find the most interesting/amusing is that Mary was married when King Henry took a shine to her and her father, Thomas Boleyn, insisted she have an affair with Henry. Mary’s poor husband William Carey had to agree to abstain from having sex with his wife because Henry was the jealous type!!!

I would be very interested to hear from anyone named Carey who believes they are related to Mary Boleyn.
