As fans of Anne Boleyn, most of you probably love The Tudors and consider them as your favourite British Royal dynasty, which is my case. But I want to ask you if you have any other? Probably the Normans, The Plantagenets, The Lancasters, The Yorks, The Stuarts, The Hanoverians, The Windsors… I don’t know.

I only know the English royal families so I can’t really talk about the Scottish, Irish or Welsh rulers. This is a large problem in the British education system when I was growing up..the curriculum was heavily biased towards English history and largely ignored the rest of the home countries..
I’d probably have to choose the Tudors followed by the latter Stuarts, ie post the Inter-regnum though the whole Saxe-Coberg_Gotha/ Windsors esp Queen Victoria, kings George V and VI WRT the expansion of Empire and it’s fall following World war II.
It's always bunnies.

Each Dynasty has it’s merits, The Normans were I think revolutionary, and brought stability to England. The Plantangants were a real mixed bag of good and bad kings. The Tudors, well lets just say very disfuntional (with one exception) as were the Stuarts, they pretty much buggered up Scotland when they ruled it, and given how hot tempered and blood thirsty they were it’s a wonder they got as far as they did.
The Hanovians were problematical, and had a few teething troubles within the royal line, but they came through in the end.
I can’t pick just one dynasty, for I have many favourite Kings, and Queens from each one.. There are a few other kings and queens I don’t like much, but only one that I heartedely detest and really does frost my cookies.

I don’t think I have a favorite dynasty. I love studying them all. I have favorite kings and queens from each dynasty though. Confession…anything past the Stuarts is beyond me. Just can’t get into the George’s or Victoria, etc. If I go further into this history it is usually from the point of view of the countries that were plagued by the George’s. Scotland and America mostly.

The Georges are a pain especially with whole court within a court hatred going on…
I’m thinking of giving up on the American Civil War..It’s far more complicated than I thought at first..I’m looking at the War of independence instead and the War of 1812 when we torched the White House..
It's always bunnies.

I recently took 3 civil war history courses for free through EDX. They were 10 weeks each. I learned so much and it was not overpowering. Eric Foner was the professor. His explanations were easily grasped. BTW he has written some great books on the subject. It went by years. 1850-1860 1860-1865 1865- 1890. I’m pretty sure that is right.
You liked the torching of the White House did ya? What did you think about the battle of New Orleans? LOL
