Hello everyone, my name is Carolyn, and through my family history research I’ve been thrilled to find a connection to the Boleyn family. My direct ancestor Elizabeth Boleyn (born 1520) was a first cousin of Anne Boleyn, their fathers Edward and Thomas being brothers. I was wondering whether anyone else was a descendant of William Boleyn and Margaret Butler (Anne and Elizabeth’s grandparents). I’ve also been interested to learn that Margaret Butler was a direct descendant of Edward 1, and therefore I believe Anne Boleyn’s descent to be more direct than Henry V111’s, something I don’t remember being taught in school!!

Oooooh thats really cool! Nice to meet you Carolyn! I did my family research a little while ago and found i am a decendant of Richard 1 and the Plantagenets. Its an exciting feeling isnt it! Yes i think alot of people had a better claim to the throne than Henry 8th, look at buckingham and i am sure he was aware that Anne and her family were linked to past royalty, she was afterall a “howard” but then again i think they were all so inbred within the nobility then and now still are that it was no wonder she was from royalty. Keep it in the family….lol its not surprising that henry had troubles having kids, all the women he tried to procreate with were his cousins in some way, if not quite removed…even now all the european royalty are cousins in some way. Eeew!

Firstly welcome to our home Carolyn. we are a mixed bunch of scallywags who enjoy lively debate and sharing the odd joke or 2.

Secondly Wow lucky you if I found out that I was related to Anne I’d be jumping through hoops of fire..
It may be on interest that Henry was related to all of his wives, somewhere along the line, so you could say that you are also related to H8 too.
I don’t know if being related to H8 is a good or a bad thing?
I live in Kent very near to all the places that Anne would have known when she lived up in Hever, which is only about an hour’s drive away from here. Rochester Castle is about 10 mins drive from here, the scene of H8 ill fated meeting with AOC.

Boatbuilders and fishermen is not so bad Anyanka! Perhaps your family helped build the Mary Rose? Or maybe the titanic, although i am not sure if id brag about that one hehe and without farmers, thered be no food 🙂 I say i can trace my family way back but my great great grandfather was illegitimate which means it dont mean squat lol its funny how they say that the tudors died out with Lizzy, but there were other illigitimates even before henrys wondering eyes grew big like a goldfish…

Anyway warm welcome Carolyn Boleyn, come and make merry with us!

Oh and Carolyn, i did some checking and it seems i can trace my family back to Edward 1 as well, but i dont think im related directly to Anne, we had Howards in there, but not the right Howard! The one that was lord mayor of London while Elizabeth 1 was queen. We are probably related somehow, then again i think more than half the planet are related somehow, like 6 degrees of separation!

Oh yeah my mums english and she hates that show, i think she finds it insulting, but more importantly, insulting to her intelligence! lol my sister angelique had a boyfriend who used to say “you stupid woman!” to her all the time, and i dont think she thought it was funny! I prefered dads army myself, “you stupid boy!” hehehe
