Hi, I'm Katy. I'm 20 years old and I live in Illinois. I'm a college student majoring in history, however I am currently taking a break from school to work full time. When I find a job, that is. As you may have guessed, I'm a devout Catholic. I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan. I first got interested in the Tudor era about a year ago when I did a paper on religion and politics, and I devoted a paragraph to Henry VIII's spilit with the Catholic Church. My other interests and hobbies include, photography, reading, cooking, camping, gardening, music, theatre, movies, internet, and travelling. That's about it.

Hi Katy and welcome,
I hope you find us an interesting bunch here.
I am also a catholic and have both Catholic and Protestant ancestry in my family (on my mothers side), the latter goes back to Elizabethan times in Ireland. I find that period of history fascinating and have done some research into my family tree an both sides. We have discussed Anne and Henry's roles a little here on the forum regarding the foundation of the church of England. Claire wrote a piece about some who believe Anne should be made a saint of the church of England, maybe a little excessive?
We also discussed the fact that Henry did not roll back the reforms in England after Anne's death, it would have made life less difficult with the mostly Catholic Royal families that ruled Europe at that time. Henry pressed on with more reforms of the Church of England, perhaps showing us his intent from the beginning. We can see with certainty, this period of time shaped religious life for many centuries after.
Paudie.
If it was not this, then it would be something else?
