Hi everyone, I have been lurking on here for a while now, thought it was about time I registered!
I have studied the Tudors since I was about 10 when I got a book out of the library about English Kings & Queens, and I was totally captivated by the portrait of Anne Boleyn. I was a bit baffled when I read that she wasn't considered beautiful in the ideals of the time, as out of all the wives, I thought she was the most attractive.
I am now firmly in the KOA camp, but Anne Boleyn still completely fascinates me and I love reading anything I can get my hands on about her as I do about all the wives. I am currently studying for a BA (hins) in History with the Open University, and find myself having to prise myself away from this site to get some study done . This is a really fab site.

Hello and welcome Catalina. I'm glad you decided to join this great community of Tudor lovers. While Anne's my fav wife, KOA is a fascinating and important historical figure who I respect. I look forward to reading your posts, and I hope you enjoy your time here.
BTW, I love Scotland, and you are very lucky to live there. I visited in 2009, and hope to return someday!

Hi and welcome, Catalina! Out of curiosity-is your real name Catalina or is that your username out of support for KoA? As for Anne being beautiful or not, I think there's two things to remember: one, that the standards of English beauty back then were much different (blonde, fair-skinned, and voluptuous equaled beautiful), and two, that it really depends on which portrait you believe is the most accurate. But if you mean the NPG portrait, yes, I quite agree that she was the most attractive (and awesome!! Sorry just had to add that :D) of Henry's wives. Anyway, hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do!!

Im only in my first year so I have years ahead of me. I love it though. My next module has chapters on the Wars of the Roses and Henry VIII so I cant wait. That starts in Oct.

Welcome Catalina/ Alicia,
I love it in here, although i do not visit as much as i would like because of my work as a nightnurse and because i'm to busy reading my books, i can not put them down.
I have recently read a bio on the mother of KoA and found a new respect for KoA but also for her mother. So i just can not choose between Anne and KoA, both woman fascinate me, as do all the tudor wives, i must admitt that i do not have much affection with Jane Seymour, she just seems so dull to me.
My wish is that i one day can go to England to see the commemoration on the death of KoA, i have seen footage of it and it looks beautifull, i am a non believer, but to me there is just something about her, Anne and Isabella I.
Another wive i am fond of is Anne of Cleves, don't ask me why, i just find her funny in some way, she was smart enough to escape from the unatractive Henry VIII.
I hope you will have fun in here, but i have no doubts about that, everyone is very nice!
Enjoy!
