Here I will be known as Irishlily, but my real name is Lori and I live in the United States. I have always had a great interest in history, especially relating to England and Ireland. I am completely fascinated by all things Tudor and adore the Showtime series The Tudors as I am sure you all do too. This is a fantastic website and i am glad to be a member of it. Looking forward to to learining more about Anne Boleyn and other related topics. I simply adore Henry Cavill aka Charles Brandon.
I hope I have put this post in the right place…..still trial and error on these sites for me.
Hi Lori/Irishlily,
Welcome to The Anne Boleyn Files! I'm so excited to be getting to know you all and it's so nice to know I'm not alone in my Tudor obsession!
I too love Henry Cavill, mainly because he is rather gorgeous but also because he plays Charles Brandon so well. Season 3 is not out in the UK yet but I have been lucky enough to see bits of it and his acting over the Pilgrimage of Grace and the atrocities that he was made to be part of is just brilliant. It was actually Norfolk, not Suffolk, who took this part in real history but I can actually forgive inaccuracies like that when there is top rate acting that brings the past to life so brilliantly.
Glad to have you here, Lori!
Debunking the myths about Anne Boleyn
Hi Irishlilly,
begarra, I'm Oirish meself!
So nice to have you on board, I have found the site most interesting and glad like Claire that I am not alone in my obsession.I hope you find the site the same and join in the forum often.
There is an Exhibition at the Tower of London of Henry VII's Artifacts , there is on show there a lance used by Charles Brandon in jousts. It was not a sport for the un-fit. Any time I see Jousting in the future, I will have much more respect for the actors or stunt men who preform wearing the armor and holding the lance and on horseback.
RESPECT…!
Paudie.

oh Claire wait till you see Catherine Howard in the Tudors, I'd like to see what yout think of her! Personally I think she is good as it shows her immaturity but alot of people don't like how they are portraying her. I managed to get hold of series 3, I'm too impatient
I went to the Tower of London Exihibition on Sunday, its amazing to see all the amour etc and you are right about the lances, HUGE!!
Is it strange I find Thomas Cromwell (James Frain) the sexiest character on the Tudors?! I LOVE his voice! Sexy!
Series Three has been on TV here in Ireland and I missed the first episodes, so will wait for the DVD. I have seen it advertised on amazon, so I'm sure it will be in the shops here soon. I was telling Claire that a guy I know has got a part in series 4 and they have started to film ten days ago, the scenes that do not need the main actors are in production. Don't know if you all are aware but it is made in Ireland, in and around Dublin.
The Tower of London is amazing! In the White Tower, the Henry expo is so cool. To see the detail on Henry's Armor, it cant be seen in any movie or TV that close, dont think that they would have gone to the trouble of the detail anyhow. It is a Tudor history stenciled all over the armor. Also the Horned helmet given as a gift by the Emperor was there, so worth seeing if you happen to be in London.
Jeremy Northam as More and James Frain as cromwell look so much like the people they play, uncanny.
Paudie.

Gemma I do understand what you mean! I like sexy voices myself. 😉 Cromwell is actually one of my favorite characters, I think he was just brilliantly cast and James Frain is wonderful in the role. He is smarmy and scheming and you want to hate him but he has little moments where you feel for him. A friend send me S3 and I am not finished yet, just getting to Anne of Cleves and her arrival. 🙂

Hello everyone from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. I'm a fairly new member to the group — found you thanks to a mention over on the Showtime Tudor messageboard, and have already taken advantage of the Products site by getting my mother (for Mother's Day) one of the pairs of Anne Boleyn earrings. I'm still trying to learn my way around the forum (just discovered it today), but wanted to introduce myself first. I have been in love with English history since I was quite young, and became a fan of the Tudors when I was about 7 or 8, and first read about Elizabeth in my American history book.
I try to check in on the site about two or three times a week just to see what's new, and it is so nice to be surrounded by new and old fans of Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth and everyone that made up that era. Seems like we just can't get enough of them!
Looking forward to being part of a Tudor group again after so many years. And I may have loads of questions about posting on the forum, so forgive me as I find my way around.
(Here's hoping the link works until I can figure out how to add my pic to my profile. This is October 2009 and me celebrating my February '09 birthday with a trip to my favorite city).
Henry: Mistress Anne, will you teach the king of England how they dance in the French court?
Anne: There is nothing that France can teach England, your majesty.
King Henry VIII: Well said. Well said.

Hi Tina,
Welcome to The AB Files and the forum, it's great to “meet” you. I love that photo of you with the Tower of London in the background – I visited it recently on The Anne Boleyn Experience and I'm gloing back again in a few weeks and really can't wait. London is a great city and has got so many attractions for us history lovers.
To get a profile photo or image on forum posts and on blog comments (and some other enabled websites), you need a “gravatar” – go to http://www.gravatar.com and sign up for a free account. You can either use an uploaded picture or your webcam to capture a photo. Once you've done this, all of your posts and comments on The AB Files will automatically have your chosen image. Hope that helps.
Feel free to ask any other questions about the site and forum, I'm happy to help.

Hi Claire and thank you for the very warm welcome and the information on getting my profile picture put up on the site. Quick sidenote: the Anne Boleyn amethyst clip-on earrings I gave my mother are still getting compliments! She loved them and everyone that has seen them loves them as well so congrats to your entire jewelry creating crew!
Of many of the pictures taken durng my trip, that is one of my personal favorites. I find I'm usually at my happiest when I'm in London — no matter the weather or the packed Tube, and when I was trying to decide how to celebrate one of those “special” birthdays, the first thing I thought was England. (Yes, call me insane but when my family suggested Hawaii, I stared for a few minutes and then went back to talking about England again LOL). THAT was my third trip and I still feel like I will never see everything.
I think I mentioned in another thread that it's been a while since I've been on a Tudor messageboard, so I'm happy to be joining all of you. No matter what happens in my life and what interest I have, I always end up back with the Tudors again!

To be honest its Claire who has got me really into the Tudors, if this site wasnt set up with all you guys talking about it I would have probably moved on to something else after a while.
Lets face it though….this site is awesome and I hope to meet every one of you one day. Tried to see the portrait of Anne in the National Portrait Gallery on Saturday. couldnt see it…… so it was a case of “'scuse me, where is Anne Boleyn?” “Oh…she's been taken away to be restored.” Ah. Have I just spent all that money getting to London for nothing. Ah well, lets go again another day 🙂
Wreckmasterjay (love that name) — I remember when I went to the National Portrait Gallery on my first trip to London in 2000. I eagerly went to the NPG so I could see the portraits of those I was so familiar with…and was disappointed to learn that they were remodeling the entire section for a Tudor display. I was back again in 2005 and was thrilled to finally get to visit it! It just took my breath away standing in front of Elizabeth's coronation portrait, considering all the times I had analyzed it in my books.
Have you (or anyone else) seen the portraits of Edward VI and the young Elizabeth (in pink) at Windsor? I was on one of those half-day bus tours at Windsor back in 2000, with a guide who probably thought every stereotypical thing about Americans. We were nearly running through one chamber and I looked over my shoulder, and there, over a mantlepiece was that lovely portrait of Elizabeth as a teenager. I screamed and started backing up — which was hard cause I was “fighting the tide” of oncoming tourists! But I got back to it. It was worth it.

Well once I saw that Anne had left the room I too went off….no point in seeing only half the paintings, although I did have a quick look round the Tudor ones…..is it sad that I actually recognised some of the faces! :-O
We're in good company. I recognized a lot of them too! LOL I think the last time I was there, they hadn't determined that one portrait to be Katherine Parr yet and still had it as Lady Jane Grey.
Since I haven't been to the NPG in 5 years, have they added anything new? I need to get on their website.

wreckmasterjay, that's a really lovely comment – thank you! I'm so glad that you like the site and I'm very grateful for people like you and others on this forum that make it such an interesting and friendly place to be. I so hate forums where people constantly snipe at each other.
Oh no, to go to all that effort and not see Anne! They've got a lovely portrait of her on display at Hampton Court Palace (see photo with /1st-june-1533-the-whit-sunday-coronation-of-anne-boleyn/5625/) at the moment and I enjoyed seeing the ones at Hever but I'm glad that I didn't go to the NPG now, how sad!

I'm so glad that your mother likes the earrings and that she gets compliments on them, it's so nice to hear. I can't take any of the credit for them, I'm always blown away by the beautiful things that Daniela makes.

Hello to everyone out there!!!! I've just come across this site, and think it is absolutely fantastic. I'm new to forums so hope I'm posting this right.
Let me introduce myself. I live in Northern Ireland and have been fascinated with Anne Boleyn and all things Tudor my whole life. (Yes I probably bore my family rigid) I've visited the Tower of London and Hampton Court, but it was several years ago. I'd love to go again. I'm in the process of reading Alison Weir's new book The Lady in The Tower. I've almost finished it, and think it is best account of Anne's final weeks there is. I think Alison has succeeded in bringing Anne back to life, cutting through all the myth and legend surrounding her, and I think we are left with a very human story. The account of her execution was the most chilling I've ever read. I literally held my breath.
Anyway, I think this site will help to satisfy my Tudor and Anne Boleyn obsession!!
Lizzie
