Hi everyone 🙂
My name is Christen, (pronouced chris-ten, been mispronounced my whole life :p) and let me just say that tears actually came to my eyes when I found this site! Being from Alabama, and 16, it's hard to find others who share my enthusiasm about History, my favorite being Tudor period. Anne Boleyn is without a doubt my hero, and I've decided that I'm related to her one way or another xD. I love to think that if it wasn't for all she did in promoting the Reformation, I wouldn't be a Methodist and have my religion. Almost a year ago I had the privilege to spend 2 weeks in England, staying at the Hever Hotel (the Boleyn dairy farm!) It was there that my fascination with her and the rest of the Tudors was set ablaze. It is so amazing to have found a forum full of people just like me, and I look forward to long discussions involving such interesting history. So glad to be here 😀

Hi Christen!
Welcome to the AB Files! You made tears come to my eyes by saying that they came to your eyes when you found the site! I'm really happy that you like the site.
I am counting down the days to the Anne Boleyn experience because we're staying 4 nights at Hever Castle and we're going to be dining one night in the main castle dining room – to eat where Anne would have dined and to be surrounded by all of those Tudor portraits is going to completely blow my mind!
I'm a Brit so I am biased but the UK is a wonderful country. As well as Hever, the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace, I would also recommend visiting Stratford-upon-Avon, a beautiful riverside town which is also home to Shakespeare's birthplace and some Tudor buildings. Not far from Stratford are the towns of Warwick and Kenilworth which both have castles. Warwick is a big castle and they have jousting tournaments in the summer and Kenilworth is in ruins but they have just done a Tudor garden there, like the one that Robert Dudley made for Elizabeth when she visited him there. I grew up around there and I must admit that I took all of that history on my doorstep for granted.
Love your signature, Christen, it's a beautiful quote.

Thank you Claire! I so wish I could come over for the AB experience, it would be wonderful! But the US economy sucks so…haha
We went all over the South and saw so many castles, I can't keep up with everything we saw haha. But I remember I loved London, and I surprisingly felt very comfortable there. It was amazing to visit the Tower, standing in the room where they kept George Boleyn was mind blowing. You could feel the history seeping through every stone. Of course the highlight of the trip was getting to stand in front the slabs marking Anne and Katherine's resting places.
On a side note, was I the only one who thought the small monument marking the executing site was a tad bit tacky? It may only be me in thinking so, but I felt something more could have been done to honor the many influential people who lost there lives there.
