Thank you everyone for the welcome
Loving the series the Tudors and read about 5 books now and love everything Tudor.
Can wait to check out everything here. This is a great site for information from what I have seen so far.
Yes the pyramids can be seen clearly from my roof. Cairo is quite flat and the pyramids huge so it's quite easy to see them, even from far off. For me to get to them though only takes about 10 mins in traffic. It's a very special place.
We are actually only 10 mins away but not in Cairo as such. We are out in the desert, but can see Cairo in the distance.
Wreckmaster, maybe you were at the Le Meridiene? or the Mena House Oberoi? both are at Remaya Sq and very close to the pyramids.
I'll look for a photo for you

Thank you and no problem. Is it better not to post pics and to just give a link? It's just I saw the add pic icon.
It's great living beside these fabulous structures steeped in history but I think in about a week or two we will be getting into the hot weather and then it's not so great
Up to 35 is great but above that is too hot…….(phew)
I was thinking something when I was watching the Tudors last night actually about that.
Henry and Mary his sister especially both have good sun tans. I'd have thought they'd have played them a bit more pasty.
Did you notice that and do you think they would have been much fairer skinned in real life?
Oh I think there's a thread there

Your lucky
I'm claustrophobic and I'd love to go inside up the the Kings Chamber, but I have to settle for wandering th plateau I'm afraid
Did you hear about the Robot and the star shafts inside the chamber? That is amazing.
Someone I know, in fact a few people I know work and have worked with Zahi Hawass ( The Hat )
Did you know they have opened Carters House? All kitted out like it was.
What did you think of the Temple of Hatshepsut? amazing isn't it.
Did you do the whole tour thing? What did you think of the Gold Room in the museum?
If you are interested in Egyptology check out the forum at http://www.luxor4u.com
Why not retire there in Luxor or here in Cairo with your wife instead of visiting!! LOL
I think I kind of jinxed myself yesterday by talking about the weather
Tonight at 22.30 it's still 32 and tomorrow we are going to have 43.
Damn it!! Summer is coming now I guess.

Sorry to hear you didn't get as much out of your visit as you could have what with the Delhi Belly I expect?
I was the same first time I went but discovering the secret that drinking the water protect you and not the other way around I have been fine ever since
If you check out the link I gave you and look for glyphdoctor and jayne akshar usernames those gals are a mine of information on Zahi and what he is up to and anything Egypt actually.
You soon get aclimatized to the heat. I used to hate the heat in UK, it was humid and stuffy. Here is is dry and more comfy. It took me a summer to get accustomed. Luxor is too hot though. Cairo is better and our place in Sinai is cooler still with the mistral, but Alex is the coolest although it is more humid. The delta areas are coller but more humid, so I prefer the extra few degrees and the dryness.
I have to say after moving here from UK I'd never move back.
You only have one life eh.

Sorry for the delay. I lost my password
I am originally from Scotland, lived in Essex for many years, then moved with my Egyptian husband to Cairo 4 years ago.
It's a bit dusty today and I can't see the sky at all. I think maybe we are seeing the start of the Khamseen
The temps have been up and down and today is just 34 but it feels hotter, so I think the khamseen is on it's way and I need to batten down the hatches!!
