Hello my names Sue I'm from Lincoln UK I have loved the series The Tudors and love reading your pages. My husband thinks I am mad I keep buying books about Henry VIII also dvds etc. Thought JRM makes an execellent Henry and although critics have said the series is not historically true it has made me research even more to find out the facts, I especially found the Pilgrimage of Grace parts interesting as I am from Lincoln and an uprising began in Lincoln, it was shocking to see Henrys response in executing the leaders in such a brutal way. anyway I look froward to reading more and learning more .
Thanks

Hi Sue,
Hello from a fellow Brit! My husband thought I was mad at first but I think my interest is rubbing off on him too now, I keep finding him browsing the site! I too am surrounded by history books and DVDs and I think you'll find lots of like-minded people on here! Welcome to the forum and to the AB Files, I'm so glad you found us.
I thought The Tudors handled the Pilgrimage of Grace really well in that it was really hardhitting and shocking. So sad that all those people had to die like that and that Robert Aske was tricked into going to London when he really didn't have anything to do with the later uprisings. A tragic story.
Anyway, it's lovely to meet you.
Debunking the myths about Anne Boleyn
Hi Galaxysue!
Welcome to our place for the Tudoresque. How's that for a new word?
We have often debated how people come to history through the media and entertainment – being inspired by TV to go on to study and things like that.
We love both the razzamatazz and the real academic stuff – and we have a lot of fun.

Welcome Sue! 🙂
Eh, my own family also thinks I am mad with my \”fixation on the past\” (quote). But here you are among those with similar interests!
I agree that JRM has done a great job of the role of Henry, it's a modern twist and he has the fire and passion. I get tired of the \”But he isn't fat and his hair isn't read\” complaint – lol. I knew very little about the Pilgrimage of Grace before The Tudors, also, and it got me to pull a book off the shelf and read up. Learning is fun no matter the process!

HI Sue!!
I started basically the same route as you-watched the Other Boleyn Girl and was inspired to read that book! Which turned into about 30 other books, dvds and movies! It's such a great \”habit\” because I don't think I am ever going to run out of interesting things to read, watch or discuss!! I can go from Anne & Henry, to Jane Grey, To Elizabeth….I think its a healthy addiction!!
Welcome to the addicted!

Hi Sue
I am from West Yorkshire, welcome to the boards!
I've always had an interest but my friend gave me the Other Boleyn Girl to read when I was in hospital awhile back and that increased my interest. I watched season 2 of the Tudors and immediately downloaded all of season 1 because I loved it! Just reading Murder Most Royal at the Moment then have Wolf Hall to read, although I am going to read a Sookie Stackhouse Novel inbetween to get my head out of Tudor world for awhile and in to vampire world instead
I actually have pictures of Henry and his wives on my wall, my husband is less than impressed!
So don't worry its not just you that is crazy!
