Hi, Jaye! Welcome to the AB Files Forum. I hope you love this place as much as I do–as many people here know, it's quite addicting!! 🙂
I look forward to seeing your posts on the forum, and I run the book club and am excited to see you there as well! And I agree that the Regency and Edwardian Eras are both also fascinating…though Tudor history is my one favorite. Anyway, welcome!

Hi wreckmaster –
you asked about the Maritimes. This region includes 3 provinces (like a state in US).
New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI (Prince Edward Island). They border on Atlantic Ocean, eastern side of Canada.
So if you like the ocean, like to drive around in your car with music blaring, like seafood, you would probably like it here – its pretty casual.
There are some cities here, but with the exception of Halifax, NS, (the largest city east of Montreal), the cities are not that big compared to cities in Europe. We also do not have population that the US has so there’s a nice feeling of space here. The cost of living is also cheaper here than further west of Canada. For a long time there was high unemployment here but now our economy has improved a lot, and its a good place to live.
Hope this answers some of your questions. Thanks for welcoming me to the site. Jaye

We visited New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on our honeymoon, and loved it. We hope to get back there someday. I loved the wide open spaces. We took the ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth. It took way too long and I was a bit green by the time we made port. It took forever. We drove back to the states. That is a boat ride I will not take again.
