I'd just like to say hello and introduce myself! My names Ellie, I currently live in Wiltshire with my husband and baby daughter.
I have loved history since I was a child, and dreamed of being a history teacher for many years. Although this is still a dream of mine I am currently concentrating on bringing up my daughter. I will however be picking it up again where I left off when she starts school in a few years time.
Although I like a broad range of historical periods, The Tudors have always been my favourite, for many reasons. I love that in just under 200 years, so much was accomplished. The country was changed forever and guided from the darkness and uncertainty of the medieval period to the brighter, more open minded, golden age of Elizabeth 1st. From the madness and lustfulness of Henry Viii and his violent inclinations to Anne Boleyn and her short but powerful reign, you can never know enough about them and the lives they led. There is so much that isnt known about these people who brought about a new way of thinking, a different way of life, yet it is partly due to them that we live the way we do today.
Anne Boleyn is of special interest to me, as she was one of the most influential queen's to ever take the crown. She was strong, spirited and passionate. She was ahead of her time and gave birth to (in my opinion) the greatest queen to have ever lived. She is also shrouded with mystery, a woman wronged who deserves recognition once more, for the things she accomplished and for who she really was. I feel the need to defend this woman, who did nothing wrong, yet paid the ultimate price for reaching so high.
"It is however but Justice, & my Duty to declre that this amiable Woman was entirely innocent of the Crimes with which she was accused, of which her Beauty, her Elegance, & her Sprightliness were sufficient proofs..." Jane Austen.
