Hi ppl! My name is Susana, although please call me Susan or Sue
I was born in Brazil but I´m living in Portugal since my 4 years old. My father is son of Portuguese’s, but was born in Africa. My grandmother is descendent from Spanish’s and the other one from Italians, so you can see that have a lot of mix here o.o
I have always enjoyed history in general, since little girl when I used to study the Portuguese and Spanish monarchy with great pleasure.
My thing with the Tudor family started 2 years ago when I was doing a research for a work about literature in my university course that, by the way, it´s Communication and Management, although we had a subject about literature. Almost in the same time, a friend of mine told me that I should watch The Tudors series, that definitely I would enjoy it and that Anne Boleyn used to make him remember me.
So then I started to buy books and watching parts of movies and series. Quickly I chose Anne Boleyn as my favorite Henry´s wives and soon was totally “in love” by her and her daughter Elizabeth I.
In The Tudors series I was glad to see Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn, much better than the deception that was seeing Natalie Portman in the film “The other Boleyn girl”.
I´m very glad to find you guys, was thinking that I was kinda crazy to admire Anne so much. I would love SO MUCH be able to go to that wonderful Anne Boleyn experience tour this year, although I know that it´s not possible for now. But I really wish to see lot of photos and videos of yours!

Hi Susan,
Welcome to the Anne Boleyn Files! Where abouts in Portugal are you? I'm in Spain in Andalucia, although I'm British and have only lived here 3 and a half years.
I too thought Natalie Dormer was way better than Natalie Portman, although the screenplay let Nat Portman down. I don't really like the way Philippa Gregory portrays Anne Boleyn anyway.
I will definitely share photos from the tour, don't worry!

Hi, nice to meet you!
I´m sorry, but I made another register cuz I couldn´t enter with Susan G. Some problem with the password. I tried to ask for another and received an e-mail to open one page but then, in that page, said “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.” I don´t know what happened o.o Anyway, here I am again 🙂
Claire, I live in Madeira Island, near to Canarias, you know? But my childhood was part in Brazil and then in the north of Portugal (Porto). I was one time in Spain, but this year I´m going to visit Barcelona and Andorra! I´m very happy about it because I won that trip in a magazine.
Where are you from in England? I was there in London, Oxford and Plymouth for 4 months in my university internship.
Either I didn´t liked Phillipa´s views about Anne. I want to get a new book about her, do you recommend me some? I was thinking to buy The Lady in the tower – by Alison Weir – because I´ve finished reading Weir´s books – Innocent Traitor and The Lady Elizabeth I – but in this last one she said that Anne had a extra fingernail or something and I was shocked cuz I never had believed in such a thing cuz wasn´t it said by her enemies? Anyway, can you tell me some great book about her please?
And Bella, my sign was taken from the music “Like a rose on the grave of love” by Xandria. You can take a look on this video that I really love that it´s about Anne – The Tudors – with that song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..OZ0wfxmRIU
oh, can someone please tell me how do I do to put an image below my name there in the avatar? Thanks!

Hi Susan,
That's weird, I wonder what happened, at least you managed to re-register.
To have an avatar show here, you need to register with http://www.gravatar.com and associate your email address with your chosen image. The image can either be uploaded from your computer, found online or it can even take a photo using a webcam. The great thing is that on all websites which are gravatar compatible e.g. wordpress your new avatar will automatically be used.
Note: The email address you use needs to be the one registered here with this forum so that the forum can pick up your avatar from Gravatar.
I've never been to Madeira but I've seen photos and it looks beautiful. Congrats on your prize, that sounds a great trip so have fun. I grew up in a village near Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace) and have also lived in Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds before moving to Spain.
The best non-fiction book on Anne Boleyn is Eric Ives's “The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn”. That book sits beside me on my desk and is in constant use. For fiction, I've enjoyed Robin Maxwell's “The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn” and Jean Plaidy's “Murder Most Royal”, both really brought Anne to life. Hope those help.

Thank you very much! I already have an avatar and I will buy all those books!
And yes, Madeira is beautiful. Today she is not so beautiful because we had a storm here and the roads are looking as rivers. But it´s better now, in the morning the street here in front of my apartment were totally invisible by the brown water by the rain and river. But, I´m ok; unfortunately not everybody can say the same 🙁

Oh, there is a bad weather too? I´ve seen now in the news that the King of Spain offered help to Portugal, Madeira. How bad is the situation there?
This video is from a friend of mine, by his house:

They showed in the news, as you can see, and I get it now from the website tv channel
A rose is wild, a rose is free, and who would know better than me?
We're on the Eastern side of Andalucia so we haven't been affected at all but it has been bad around Malaga – see

I don't think it's as bad as Madeira though with the landslides etc. I'm glad that you're ok.
