Hello all!  I have been a lurker on this site for a long while and figured why not join up, so here I am.  I am from the United States and the only thing I knew about Anne Boleyn growing up was that she was a Queen that got her head cut off by some King named Henry VIII who had multiple wives.  Embarassing, I know!  Growing up in a family with a large military background my history consisted of the American Revolution, US Civil War, WWII, etc.  To this day I have a large love for military history and that is what I am pursuing my degree in.  However, I love history in general and there are certain topics that I can read and read and read about.  Those are the Holocaust, WWII, Titanic, and now Anne Boleyn and the Tudor period.  Sadly, besides internet research I haven't been able to read books on her yet but can't wait to get my hands on some.  You see, once I get into a book I won't put it down which isn't good for someone who has other books to read in order to finish a degree.  Wink

How I got interested in Anne Boleyn was through the movie “The Other Boleyn Girl”.  At the time I took that movie as truth, having known nothing else.  Even though that movie, as I soon found out, was riddled with falsehoods, it got me interested in an amazing woman and Queen, Anne.  For that I am forever greatful!  Now I just continue to research her and learn as much as I can about her and her life around her.  When I recently heard about Showtime's The Tudors I figured I would give it a whirl.  I was hooked from the first episode.  I saw the inacuracies of course, as most did, but I also after research found out things to be true I didn't know.  Most importantly, it got my friends talking about Anne which excited me because I could finally discuss her with people without them yelling at me for giving them a history lesson!  Laugh  I have watched some things on Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and although a lot had some great acting and true emotion shown; The Tudors, in my opinion, gave the truest representation of the characters' attitudes that I had come to know through research.

Well anyways, that's just a little bit about me … HI and hope to talk to you all soon!

Welcome TeamAnne. I look forward to reading your posts. Anne is an extrodinary figure, whose life is muddled with falsehoods and inaccuracies. Although I've been an admirer of Anne for years, beloning to this forum has opened my mind to new perspectives. I hope, like me, you learn lots about Anne and her contemporaried. Best and, and again, welcome!

Hi and welcome.  I'm so glad to hear that you did not take The Other Boleyn Girl as fact, but delved into the truth.  The Tudors was very addicting wasn't it?

I hope you enjoy the site.

Hi guys and thanks for the warm welcome!  Sharon, my mom and I were on a research kick after that movie haha.  Funny thing is, I rented The Other Boleyn Girl the other night just because I was bored and had just got done re-watching The Tudors (hehe) and I barely got through half of the movie!  I just found it so sub-par after seeing The Tudors and also now knowing the facts.  I should be able to take it for what it is, fiction, but for some reason I couldn't.  Hmmm, I don't think I ever finished it come to think of it haha.  Well thanks again guys!

Question:  How do I get back to my profile to edit it and ad a picture and what not?

Hi and thanks boleynfan and wreckmaster!  You guys are so welcoming! Laugh

We have some topics in common wreckmaster, that's great.  I haven't done as much research on the Titanic as Anne but I intend to at some point.  WWII is my baby and that is what I plan on getting my Master's concentration in.
