Hi Everyone!
Just thought it would be interesting to start a \”where are you from?\” thread as The AB Files is so international now.
By the way, I'm from the UK but now live in the Andalucia region of Spain, in the Almeria province, about 1 hour from Granada and about the same from the Almeria coastline.
I was born in Lancashire, moved to Warwickshire (12 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon) when I was 3 or 4 and stayed there until I went to Uni. I then went to the University of Warwick, near Coventry, Kenilworth and Leamington Spa. After that, I lived in Sussex, then Oxfordshire (near Blenheim Palace) and then in the Cotswolds (again near Stratford – love Stratford!). Got the urge to move abroad 3 years ago and now have a new life with hubby and kids in Spain. Love the climate here and the laid back lifestyle, but do miss England (although not the rain, traffic or cost of living!).
So, where are you all from and have you always lived there?

Gosh I feel really boring compared to you Claire! I live in West Yorkshire about 20 minutes away from Leeds and always have, have even lived in the same town all my life! I went to Sheffield Hallam University but didn't move away, I just drove there everyday.
The main reason is I have cystic fibrosis and I am very happy with the care I recieve at St James Hospital so I don't want to have to move to a different unit, the standards of care vary so much between CF units and my unit get alot of funding so we get the best care possible. My dad used to drive 4+ hours to get to work everyday just so we didn't have to move. So guess i'll probably stay here all my life! I even got my fiance to move over here from Manchester which is where his family are from

I was born in Harbor City, California.. Yes I'm from the states..
I've lived in california all my life… I've been to puerto rico, but that's the farthest I've traveled. My family moved to Riverside County when I was about 5 years old. I was a band nerd, a bookworm.. But that's ok with me. I have a sister and a brother, but we aren't all that close. I have two kids, one with autism, and my daughter is my drama princess.
Now I live with my fiancee and my children in Moreno Valley, CA. I've lived here pretty much all of my life. My fiancee is from another part of california, but he moved here to be with us. My son goes to a good school for his autism, and I didn't want to take that from him. I'm going to school full time, however, I am grateful for the break I have right now.

Hi – I'm Rochie (Sarah. R)
A piece of me is in the UK right now. But …
'Without going outside, you may know the whole world.
Without looking through the window, you may see the ways of heaven.
The farther you go, the less you know.
Therefore the sage knows without travelling.
He sees without looking.
He works without doing.'
Tao Te Ching (6th century BC)

I love that verse, Rochie! I have to keep that one. I would love to travel someday, but for now I am pretty much stuck in one spot.
I live in Pennsylvania, in the northeast USA. The town I live in is Gettysburg, which played a big part in the US Civil War! My interest is (obviously) British history, but I am surrounded my American history year-round. The annual battle reenactments are held each July, fairly close to my home. Canons and gunfire for three days.
With members so widespread, maybe we should get a Frappr map for the forum, or another similar map for forums. It might be a neat way to keep track.

Hi, I'm Sharon and I live in Binghamton NY. I have lived here all of my life and will more than likely stay here, but I love to travel. So far, we have been to Florida, and stayed in all of the states in between. We have been to California and South Dakota. We visit Virginia quite a bit. Emma…I have been bugging my husband to take us to Gettysburg forever. We are both Civil War buffs. Don't know why we haven't done this trip yet. It's not that far away. Binghamton is on the NY/PA border. We have been to Lancaster several times.
I will one day get to England. That is my dream.
I am part Slovak (Slovakia) and part Italian and Sicillian. I would like to visit the areas where my grandparents are from after I have seen Great Britain.

Hi, it's Jenny,
I think I must have been extremely lucky- I was born and basically educated to Grammar school level in Worcester, a city of greast importance suring the medieval, Tudor and Stuart times, but then I drifted on to the wonderful city of Salisbury to decide whether I was going to continue mu education in the hotel/Toursim trade in Bornemouth or work in theatre in Chelttenham rep. I got short-listed to 2 for the Cheltenham job but lost out so I headed for Bournemouth and the tourism training. Between all that I lived in Bath off and on – All lovely cities and then drifted between London, Worcestr and Poole (another beatiful place) and ondon before trying out Holland which I didn't like (well to work there) so back to blighty where I once again ended up in London and got sent on jobs to Morrocco, greece and Cyprus. Finaly, I decided I wanted to spend a year living in one forign countty. It could hve been anywhere, but I was offered a teaching job in Madird (I had no idea how to teach), hated it and took a sbbatial for abut 5 months (more or less to keep doors open), So I returned to Madrid and for a number of years spent sometime in England and sometime in Madrid where I finally found my niche in the 90s. Since then I have been all over Scotland, parts of Rumania, Senegal, lots of Spain and the occasional trip to Britain as well as being let lose in the Norwegian Fjords. IT has been an exciting life and is still not over – Being a Gemini Ascendent with most of my signs in Libra (although I am a Scorpio by birth), I get fascinated by the whys and wherefore of situations either present or in the past – which is why the AB Files have been such a joy.

Hi I'm Abby Lyn,
I live in Illinois, US, but I was born in Dover, UK. But when I was five I moved to Reading for a few months until I started grammar school, and that's when I moved to Nevada. I was there for around a year, until my sister could help watch me and my brother, and my parents could I go to work but then my sister, Maddie had to go to college, and we then had to move to Paris because of my mum's job transfer, but we were only there for the summer, but I learned to speak fluent french (and when my parents have to go to France, which my mum still does, I have to go with to help her with French since she doesn't remember much). Then we had to move to Illinois, and that's where we live now. But I'm moving again this summer. But out of all the places I lived, I think I liked living in the UK the most. I think I'd rather travel, then keep moving. But of course, I am ONLY 12, so I think I have a while to go before I can actually make up my mind.

Hi, I'm Shannon.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and then moved to Dallas, Texas when I was about 9, then to Toronto, Canada, when I was 12, and I've just moved to the greater London area about two weeks ago, and I'll be 18 in just under a month. I've absolutely devoured everything about the Tudors, and other parts of English history, that I could get my hands on since I was about 11. Anne Boleyn will always been one of my favorites though. I can't believe I found this site!!!! 🙂

I was born in Lynwood, California, and moved to West Covina, California when I was seven years old. I've lived in California all my life as well — went to college in the Bay Area for a couple of years and to grad school at UCLA (40 miles is a little too far to commute from West Covina — tried it the first year and was languishing!). I went to Brazil in 2002 and plan to be on the Executed Queens Tour next May — my first trip to Europe, God willing. I am a huge history buff and have been ever since I was five years old. I was seven when I first became interested in Tudor history (and had my mother make me an Anne Boleyn dress out of red velvet, white taffeta and brown fake fur for Halloween). My academic field of study was Latin America (with a focus on 20th-century Brazilian history and literature), but British history in general and the Tudor period in particular will always have a soft spot in my heart.
Yours as long as lyffe endures, Katheryn
