Hi All,
I'm currently in the process of writing an essay about the changing nature of Anne's portrayal in historical fiction (especially as feminism has progressed), and one of my core texts is Anne of the Thousand Days. I've seen the film and have done some research online – I know it was originally a 1948 play, and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if there were any obvious changes between the play and film, in terms of Anne's role/depiction.
Any sources of info would be greatly appreciates!

Hi thousanddays. Welcome to the AB forum.
There is a book, a compilation of academic essays, titled Tudors and Stuarts on Film: Historical Perspectives edited Susan Doran. One of the essays examines “Anne of the Thousand Days” (the film version). The author does a great job of juxtaposing the film to history, but I found the examination and discussion of the film's cultural, 1960-1970's context quite interesting. There is some discussion, from what I can recall, about the play, too.
Good luck with the essay! The topic sounds interesting!
