Genevieve Bujold is my favourite Anne, especially in terms of her acting.I love that it is one of the few Annes I have seen that didn't flaunt her assets or promising Henry sexual favors(for me this is the only let down that Dormer's Anne possesed).I believe that sexual intercourses are normal and healthy in a relationship but I dislike it when they show Anne either as wanton(the old time Chapuys classic)or as cold and calculating, exchanging sexual favors for political rise.Bujold's Anne was fresh, bold, spoke her mind and full of life, and this is why Henry is attracted to her.Henry doesn't want to get into her bed, more likely to posses her,her heart,to have her to love him.And this is by far the most acurate I think of them.He didn't want to bed her only,he wanted her around him,to give him some of her sparkle.I loved how outspoken she was and her tantrums, her bold declarations and how she prosceed falling in love with him,won over by his affection and that he wanted her love, not her gratitude.Although Bujold was very pretty, she was not a bombshell like other actresses but she had the charm and spirit to make her, just like Anne did,to seem the prettiest of them all.A big asset of her was also her natural french accent which Anne most likely would have.Anne grew up in foreign countries and most likely used more french than english so she must have had that slight french slip and who knows, perhaps she used it more to her advantage,to showcase her difference and her pose.
Burton was a brilliant actor and his theatrical range showed greatly as Henry. He is one of my favorites and I prefer Henry, the way he played him,as more mature man,he seems more classy, more appealing and more dangerous than the usual portrayal of him as an hormone crazed man, chasing skirts. Also,as I said before,it gets more under my skin to have him after Anne's heart than her enigme(that is taken by Chapuys comment on Jane).
To sum up,they seemed to have a good chemistry and they portrayed Anne and Henry with respect, humanity and realistic views

Anne of the Thousand Days is hands-down my favorite Anne movie. I agree that Burton plays a fantastic Henry, more mature. I think he shows the good points of Henry, because, after all, he wasn't just a two-dimensional tyrant. I also think Genevieve Bujold is the best Anne. At first her looks threw me a little because she is not quite how I imagined Anne, but she grew on me throughout the movie and the acting, character, and French accent were absolutely superb. Her fire, sauciness, big, dark, expression-filled eyes, and voice were perfect for Anne.
I do agree about Mary Boleyn, though. I just wanted to laugh the first time she came on screen. Oh wait-I did laugh.
But overall, wonderful movie and the best Tudor one there is!!!

You should definitely purchase it Sarah!
I watched it upon its initial DVD release a few years back, and was hooked! It's an incredible movie, perhaps my favourite ever, and portrays Anne in such a spectacular way, with a stunning performance by Genevieve Bujold, which to me, has only been closely contested by Natalie Dormer's portrayal.
I love how the film takes a more emotional approach, as opposed to the new fangled historical movies, where the Directors seem to think that blood and gore and sex are the only ways to captivate an audience in a history movie.
A magical, magical film.
