Hi Everyone,
I just bought Jean Plaidy's book The Thistle and the Rose, about Margaret Tudor, and so far it's been quite good, if a little too historian-like and not as realistic as I would have hoped. Looking over my [many, many] bookshelfs and stacks of Tudor books, I realized that I have a few of Jean Plaidy's books about the Tudors. Has anyone here read any of her books?
Thanks!

I've got 'Murder Most Royal', 'Rose Without a Thorn', 'The Sixth Wife' (about Catherine Parr, but I haven't read it yet) 'Madame du Barry' and the Catherine de Medici trilogy (which I also haven't read yet). I read a lot of Jean Plaidy at school; my school library had a lot of her books; and another couple that stand out are 'Myself, My Enemy' about Henrietta Maria and 'The Pleasures of Love' about Catherine of Braganza. I particularly loved the second one and have been trying to find another copy ever since!

I've got Castile for Isabella, Spain for the Sovereigns, Daughters of Spain, Uneasy Lies the Head, Mary Queen of France, The Thistle and the Rose, Royal Road to Fotheringay, Madame Serpent, Louis the Well Beloved, Road to Compiegne & Flaunting Extravagant Queen.
I've finished Castile for Isabella and really loved that and have started on Louis the Well Beloved. I really enjoy them and they are mostly accurate historically, so that's always good. But yes, they do sometimes read a bit like a non-fiction book, but compared to PG, I quite like that…
I wish to confess to you and tell you my secret, which is that I am no angel. -Queen Elizabeth I

I've read The Lady in the Tower (at least I think this is the Anne one [also, not the one by Alison Weir]) and Murder Most Royal, but a few years ago, so I think I'll reread them. Thank you for the suggestions, Bella and Bethany. Bethany, I agree about Plaidy versus Philippa Gregory! Plus, this way, you learn more about the actual history without reading a biography (I do read a lot of those, but first and foremost I'm a crazy hardcore book, novel girl!).

I love Jean Plaidy, she is one of my favourite authors! I have read:-
Katharine the Virgin Widow
The Shadow of the Pomegranate
Murder Most Royal
The Captive Queen of Scots
The Lady in the Tower
The Rose Without a Thorn
All of these I have been impressed with and are definatly worth a read at some point.
Mary Queen of France – I am reading this one at the moment, which is very good so far
The Sixth Wife – I bought this over the Christmas break to read next
The Kings Secret Matter – This is sat on my bookshelf amongst my many tudor novels waiting to be read!!!!
