I wasn't sure where the best place to squeeze in this topic was, but I figured here would work. 🙂
Whether you loved or hated The Tudors, or fell somewhere in between, I just wanted to say that the soundtracks are amazing. I have both the S1 and S2 soundtracks, the latter being my favorite. I like classical music but am not a big \”buff\” by any means, and yet this music moves me. It perfectly captures so much of the emotion from the show, and from the time period.
S1 soundtrack has the title score and some lighter pieces, such as \”Fun and Games\” and \”A King's Passion\”, of when Anne and Henry first meet.
From the season 2 soundtrack, there is more music and a greater variety – though of course it is heavier in emotion, given the content. From \”Smeaton's Sad Violin\” to the eerie, unique music from Anne's dream of being burned. Perhaps my favorite is \”Anne's Final Walk\”, which for me is very emotional, being both mournful and tragic while retaining her pride and honor.
Just wanted to put in a recommendation for anyone who might enjoy the music. It's lovely, perfectly soothing for pre-bedtime listening. 🙂

I have the soundtrack to season 1 and like it. My favorite piece of music is of course Anne's theme, which is heard in the tracks \”The Passion of King Henry\” and \”Mixed Messages from Anne.\” I LOVED that they played Anne's theme in Season 3 when Princess Elizabeth is brought back to court at Christmas. I was also inspired to download some Thomas Tallis pieces, which are heard throughout the show but not included on the soundtracks, I guess since they're not part of Trevor Morris's score. I was in the chorus at school from the time I was 9 or so, so I grew up singing English choral music. It's nice to know now where it all came from (if not for King Henry I'd have had to sing in Latin!).
Emma, you made me want to go out and buy the Season 2 soundtrack right now! I like to sometimes teach yoga to the Tudors soundtrack, but I think I would get too emotional if I tried it with the Season 2 one. I'm sure I could find some other occasion to listen though.

Claire it probably will make you cry, as it did (does) for me. It's not altogether mournful, though, there is just something about the piece that makes me proud of Anne, and her dignity up until the very end.
Melissa I noticed that as well, the music during Elizabeth's entrance, and it was so bittersweet and heart-wrenching!
I can promise you both will love the season 2 soundtrack. 🙂

I have the first soundtrack and also love it! My favourite ones are 'a historic love' no 7 and Wolsey commits suicide no 25, (they are the same piece of music really).
Thinking about them makes me just want to watch all season 1 and 2 again even though I have watched them so may times already! My husband thinks I am crazy! Season 3 was a let down for me really, Cromwell kept me going though. Don't know what i'll do now he is gone

I agree my Ipod is constantly playing the 'wolsey commits suicide' and historic love. its so moving… I also love the piece the Katherines final hour – beautiful.
It made me watch all of season 1 and 2 again – which for me is the best so far of the Tudors, I agree with you missisGG season 3 was a let down. Perhaps its because Annes gone

I`ve got to say, I`ve fallen totally out of love with the TV show, especially since Anne and Cromwell`s executions, however, the music is sublime. I normally listen to Punk, Indie rock and general good old-fashioned guitar bands but the soundtrack to the Tudors just brings out the romantic in me (I didn`t even know it existed till I heard the music for this show!).

I play the violin, so I completely jumped for joy when I heard all the string music in this show( I'm a bit biased haha)-Trevor Morris is BRILLIANT as a composer. I found myself trying to play some of the melodies. ( I keep on wanting to convince my orchestra teacher that we should play some of the themes) I have Anne's final walk and Anne dreams of her childhood on my ipod, as well as Wolsey Commits Suicide. They're so haunting and gorgeous at the same time ya know?

I downloaded all 4 seasons off iTunes the other day and I have to agree that it is awesome pre-bead music. Mot of the tracks are very very soothing and relaxing. It's a wonderful souvenir of the show.
My favourite pieces would be the Theme and An Historic Love. But the piece of am addicted to most is The Execution Ballet, it is a hauntingily beautiful piece of music, that added so much emotion to the scene of Culpepper's execution. Just beautiful, could listening to it all day if it didn't make me feel so sad.
