Is this worth picking up? I just saw it in the shops for $30, Season 1-3. Is it a good series for someone who is interested in having a general overview of the history of the monarchy in England/Great Britain? Is it interesting or does it befall some good documentaries of being really dry?

Bill, it is good, but I think that Starkey writes a lot better than he presents himself on screen. As a screen presence I much prefer Simon Schama, just a personal preference, but for the content of “Monarchy” I would say it's worth the money (is it not available on any current television source?).

Thanks Neil. I think I will go and purchase it on Monday when the post office re-opens. To the best of my knowledge it has already screen here in Oz and few years back. It may be on non free-to-air stations, but unfortunately I don't have access to them. But I was thinking $30 for 3 seasons is good value considering I spend $20 on a movie.
