If Hollywood would plan to make a biographical movie about Anne (perhaps some kind of remake of “Anne of the Thousand Days”) which actress would you like to see playing her role?

For me, this actress has to fulfil some important “optical” qualities – she has to be young (not older than thirty), she has to be brunette, she has to be slim (or rather graceful!), she has to be much smaller than King Henry (I don't mean she has to be small; it depends on which actor they would cast for Henry. I found the height of Eric Bana and Natalie Portman perfect!

And she must have irresistible magnificent eyes, whether if they were brown or green or even blue. I think that is the most important optical condition my actress needs to play Anne in a movie. (And that's why I love Natalie Dormer in the TV show!)

I think Kate Beckinsale would be good.

And Winona Ryder… – but she's too old now.

Eva Green…she has the eyes!

Any other suggestions?

Oh I think Wynona would be a great call in her younger days! I also Love Anne Hathaway, though I think she is too pretty!

I think Anne's appeal was her charismatic ways and her sex appeal. So maybe not someone so obviously pretty/beautiful?

I think Hilary Swank or Jennifer Garner would work (sorry I am going with American actresses cause that is what I know best!) I find them both enigmatic and attractive in different ways! there's a young actress named Ellen Page who has a snarky personality and seems very confident too! I think she looks just right too!

Me! Only joking, although wouldn't you love to deliver that great speech in the Tower from Anne of the Thousand Days?!

The British actress I thought of immediately was Rachael Stirling – see http://www.rachael-stirling.com/ – She was in a BBC drama a few years ago called “Tipping the Velvet” and was brilliant. She also has Anne's dark looks.

American actress Jessica Biel reminds me of the way I imagine Anne to have looked.

I can see Kristen Stewart playing Anne as a teenager.

I think Glee's Lea Michele would be perfect for the role of Anne!  She has the look, and she can sing and dance too.

I agree – Eva Green would be a good choice.  She's French too, isn't she?  After all Anne was considered by some to be more French than English, LOL.  Which kinda got me thinking if Sophie Marceau (sp?) wouldn't be too bad.  She was in Braveheart and Anna Karenina so she can do the 'doomed heroine' part quite well even if she may be slightly (only just!) too old!  Laugh

I also think Keira Knightley with her hair dyed dark brown would make a good Anne.

Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses.  I am terrible when it comes to picking actresses for a person who in my mind looks a certain way.  Of all the actresses mentioned, I think Rachael Stirling comes the closest to what I think Anne would look like.

As for Henry, how about Clive Owen, or Russell Crowe.  Or even Gerard Butler.

I love Gerard Butler, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about Henry VIII having a Scottish accent.  I think that would bother me a bit.

Really, the more I think about it, the more I think Keira Knightley would be perfect for the role of Anne.  I can already picture her in the execution scene in The Tudors instead of Natalie Dormer.

When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.

I've always thought that Rose Byrne would make a great Anne. She has the beauty and grace but also an intelligent, compelling edge that every Anne should have. She also has the look. (Interestingly she played Natalie Portman's decoy handmaiden in Star Wars Episode 2!)

I see a cross between Anne Hathaway

and Image Enlarger (Jessica Biel)

Keira Knightley (Other Boleyn Sister actress) was a wonderful choice to play Anne though.

Although I do realize that this is a long forgotten post,I couldn't help the need to share with you(people with the same passion as me)my newest addiction.Lately I have developed a strange habit, whenever I see a movie or an actress to think of roles(historical faces mostly)they would suit. And naturally I look for suitable Annes!!!!

First of all,I agree wholeheartedly with Rose Byrne. She definately has the Anne look and I always though that her eyes look exactly as I imagine Anne's eyes would have looked like:big, black and beautifull!I have come to some top candidates based first on looks, although I have made some “research”whether they had qualities that would make them good Annes.  My top choice naturally is Marion Cotillard! Why?She has a face that can't never be forgotten, beautifull eyes(yes, blue not black)but still are dark colored, beautifull and full of intelligence, she has a classy pose,a natural grace and charm. Also, she is a great actress and on top of that, she is french! How awesome is that? Her Anne would have the same dynamics as Genevieve Bujold have, with her cute french accent(a trait I strongly believe Anne would have possesed!)Also, she seems as a stylish woman and if you want to go accurate on looks, she has already proved how she can mold in each role

Another one that recently jumped in my mind is Leighton Meester! Now,you would ask how did I managed to think of her as Anne.In fact,I think she looks too young for Anne but in a few years who knows…What attracted her to me as an idea is actually her eyes.Recently,I realized that her eyes reminded me a lot Anne's eyes in the NG portrait.See also for yourself. As for acting,I think that she is one of the few in GG who acts decently and although some find it a stupid series, her character Blaire is in fact a very well writen and developed character. In fact,it seems to me a lot based in Anne(there was even a comment on her).First of all,she is Queen B(too obviousWink),secondly although many believe her to be a heartless bitch she is in fact a very sensitive and multidimensional character(she reminds me at times Dormer's Anne, who one minute throw threats around and the next suffered her own trials),she became a copied fashion icon(anyone remember the whole headbands craze?). But it is the actress or the character she had played that made me think of her?I do hope although and see her rising  star.Just observe though Leighton's eyes, small built frame, delicate structure and characteristics and natural sex appeal(although not a mind-blowing beauty like a model she has the kind of attitude and appeal that make her stand out).To me,she looks like a good Anne and if not,I recognise in her the same kind of beauty Anne possesed. Not an obvious one but one that can clearly make you drawn to her.

Also, lately I 've become fond of actress Nina Dobrev. She is also what I call a sly beauty. You don't goggle your eyes the first time you see her but the moment you see her you can't get over how beautifull and charming she is.She has a mane of long, straight black hair(I always imagined Anne's hair straight, don't know why),pretty dark eyes, more earthy complexion, she is also small built and has a small oval face with pointed chin. She is also much younger than I picture Anne (she is 21-22 I think)but still she has the brunette look

Image Enlarger.

Those are recently my top choices(well, that's a lie,Marion Cotillard has been for a long time my top choice as Anne)

I would probably go for Rachel Weisz, I think she is an amazing actress and could well see her playing Anne, but my all time favourite one that I am used to now is Natalie Dormer, she is amazing in the Tudors and it would be great to see her with the B necklace in film again Wink

I agree with you!!!Even though Natalie played Anne for two seasons I feel I can't get enough of her Anne!I would love to see her again, especially in a movie! But then again,so I wish for Natalie Portman to revise that part but in a better movie(before TOBG came out one of my top choices was Natalie Portman and it is unbearable to think that they had a perfect actress, acting and looking wise and spoiled it with that plot!)

I love all the options for Anne. I have to admit, while day dreaming and not having to worry about university deadlines, I've come up with my dream cast for a movie version of Anne's life. But, I won't bore you all with the details.

I would love to see Natalie Portman back as Anne in a much better version because TOBG was horrible.

However, my pick would be Keira Knightly: slight frame, dark eyes and hair, and looks great in historical films. Although, she might be too tall.

I have to agree with Anne in her post… Nina Dobrev I think would make a brilliant Anne Boleyn in a film, she has the look of what I imagine Anne to be like

I wish there were more tudor films and tv programmes !!!

I thinked that whole Ghost Whisperer thing has changed how I look at her now. I'd be waiting for “Anne” to start seeing dead people!

I also think Rose Byrne would be a good choice, as well as a younger Winona Ryder. Nina Dobrev…that gave me pause. I think her face looks younger than she actually is, so maybe if she grew up another 10 years, then I can see it. Her face is a little too petite though, I think. To bring another one up that's been mentioned: Keira Knightley. Now, I have a little trouble because she is my favorite actress and I just picture her as, well, her. And other characters she's played. But while she doesn't look that much like either the Hever or NG portraits of Anne, she looks a little like how I imagine Anne, and I can definitely see her playing Anne really well.

I have exactly the same thoughts on Nina Dobrev. She is actually very young(21-22)so I guess that is a put off for now.To tell you the truth, she never had crossed my head 'till one point.I was watching an interview of hers and something about the way she talks and laughs all the time, made me think of a younger Anne.Don't get me wrong,it is just that I 've always pictured Anne as a younger woman to be more carefree and youthfull than usually portrayed(you know, more sexual). She reminded me a little of Bujold's Anne and I believe her face stracture to be similar to what we know Anne's was.As for Keira, although she would make a good Anne(and she is one of my favorites),I have the same problem with you. Also,it would be too reminscent of her usual period roles to actually make it her own.If there is going to be a movie with Anne,I wouldn't want it to be another Keira role(it is not her fault that directors kind of typecasted her,she is this decade's Helena Bonham Carter and Winona Ryder).I would prefer them to have another actress for this part, for whom it would be fresh(I am addicted to the Dormer way!).
