They're a cute couple and I wish them well. You do worry, though, how William's parents' divorce has affected him. I like that they took their time with getting married, and that she's independent and outspoken. I don't think she'll be as emotionally fragile as Princess Diana. Diana was thrown into the royal family with just a short courtship and she was so young, with no idea who she was yet. It was so sad – I think Charles cynically took advantage of her innocence because he needed an heir. There wasn't a chance in hell of that ending happily. Kate will do better.

I'm excited! I admit I am a Royalist. While I will not be in London for the Royal Wedding, Will and Kate will becoming to Canada as their first official overseas tour. One of their stops is my home province of Prince Edward Island. I believe they will be here sometime in early July, although their itinerary as yet to be released. I doubt I will be lucky enough to even get a glimpse.

I have been waiting for this wedding for a very long time. Oh, and when he gave her his Mom's wedding ring… it brought tears to my eyes. They seem so well suited to each other, and so happy together. I don't remember Charles and Diana ever looking as happy as these two look. I love royal weddings and cannot wait for this one. Charles was in love with someone else when he married Diana. He listened to his Mother and not his heart. Poor Diana didn't know what she was getting into with that family. I think the Royals have changed for the better because of her. William seems to be following his heart. Diana would be so proud of him.
Duchess, That will be so awesome if you are lucky enough to see them when they come to Prince Edward Island.

I'm not!
But then again I wasn't about C&D's wedding. Even at 17 I could see it was a huge mistake.
However I think W&C are a lot more mature and level-headed tan C&D. Charles was pushed into marriage by the constant pressure of the press and his parents. William seems to have been allowed to have much more space though poor Catherine doesn't.
That said I think they will be happy unless Phil the Greek starts talking…..

I'm REALLY excited about the Royal wedding, I love the Royal Family and have nothing but respect for them.
I'm putting on a buffet lunch for my husband and young daughter as we're all for the Monarchy and everything it stands for.
William and Catherine are a great Royal couple and I wish them every happiness

Wow, that sounds exciiting, bethany.x. I will be watching the Royal Wedding on TV early April 29th (0700 here in PEI). I would love to hear all about your experience. I am so jealous not to be in England.
I'm not sure I'm going to get up at 6 am EST to watch it. Though I'm sure that it will be repeated ad nausem over Aunty Beeb and some of the other news channels..

Wreckmasterjay,
Which Kate Middelton bio did you read? I'd love to learn more about her. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the read.

I'm delighted for any couple who discovers love and resolves to commit to each other. I do think this is a love match, but I also see it as a very prudent match. It does seem like the prince and Kate really took their time en route to the altar. That's not a bad thing at all. They're a very pretty couple (if that “counts” for anything) and seem very compatible. If William has learned from his father's mistakes, perhaps those mistakes and the suffering they caused were not in vain.
I don't see Kate Middleton as the “new Diana.” Rather she reminds me strikingly of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (the late Queen Mother.) LOL, they both love their hats, don't they?
Unlike Diana, Elizabeth knew how to exercise a gracious demeanour toward the press but also insist upon respect for her boundaries. Somehow I doubt we'll ever see footage of Kate pleading with reporters and cameramen to respect her privacy when she's taking her children on holidays.
