If you are a member of the FaceBook group, The History Police…this is another of my rants
I was watching The Seven Ages of Britain, when Dimbley states that by WWII, it was nearly 1000 yrs since English people had been attacked in thier homes.
Er Zepplin raids happened in London and towns on the SE coast during WWI. There was a naval bombardment of Hartlepool, Scarbrough and Whitby in 1914. Scarborough has hit in 1917 by U-boat attacks…
If the Dimbleby can get his facts wrong…..
It's always bunnies.

Add to that the Welsh revolt led by Owen Glendower, and the devestation caused along channel coastal towns (with a lot of help from the French) during 1403/4.
Also Brighton was burnt to the ground after a raid by the French in 1514 (and we know who was king at that time, don’t we!). So, all in all, rather less than a thousand years!
Perhaps, as it was the Welsh and the French, he didn’t think it counted.
Still, I do love a good rant!
