Ok, if you live across the Atlantic, you may or may not be aware that the housing market for the majority of the U.S. is completely in the crapper. Houses getting foreclosed on left and right, home values dropping like crazy in some parts of the country (Vegas apparently got hit REALLY bad). Anyway, so in the middle of all this, my husband took a new job in Atlanta, Georgia, which is about 200 miles away from where we currently live. We put our house on the market in October 2009 and it's been on the market ever since…
Until about 2 weeks ago. Immediately after Christmas, we dropped our asking price by $10,000 and someone finally make a realistic offer on it.
So…a year and a half later, we can finally pack up and move to the ATL!! YAY!!!
Anyway, my presence here will be hit-and-miss until I get this house packed up and moved, but yay for progress!!

Congrats, MegC. I know how frustruating selling a house can be. My Mum and Dad's house was on the market for four years here in Canada. Mind you, it was in a small, rural town.
All the best in Atlanta and finding a new house.
Cheers!

Congrats MegC
I know what you mean about the housing market. I still live at home with mum and dad, and they have the house on the market for sale at the moment. I have been up since April 2010, we have only had 4 people interested and come to look, but none of them wanted it 🙁 its a lovely little cottage thats about 160 years old, right along side a little river and only 20 miles from the beach.
Hopefully the market will pick up and we can be moved ASAP !

The worst part of selling a house is feeling like your life is in this miserable holding pattern with no end in sight–it's like waiting to fly into O'Hare on a busy day.
Clare-We had a TON of interest in our house until the tax credit ran out and then all interest dried up for awhile. Seriously–not a single looker for, like, 3 or 4 months. Plus, we were competing with all the other houses for sale in our ridiculously HUGE subdivision.
