Today is St. George's Day – the Patron Saint  of England.  I have unable to find much on how the Tudors celebrated it but from what I can understand it was frowned upon amonst the reformists.

St. George is also the patron Saint of a number of countries including Catalonia in teh North of Spain.ç

This day is supposed the birthday and death day of both Shakespeare and Cervantes (Spain) and in Spain is the day of the books.

Any more info wold be gladly appreciated as internet is lacking on this one
