So I am off to visit the Big Smoke (London for those of you not fairmiliar with the term) next week and I was thinking of paying a visit to The Banqueting House while I was there. I need something to fill a couple an hour or two before I travel back. I decided to take out a membership for the Historic Royal Palaces that way I am not only supporting a great cause, I can get more for my money, because I can visit any of the 5 palaces as much as I like within the year.
Anyway I am babling on now !!! Just wondered if anyone else has visited the Banqueting House? Is it worth a visit?

I love the Banqueting House. It is a beautiful room. The ceiling is to die for.
From recall, there is a video shown in the arched basement (a former wine cellar, maybe). It is Tudor/Jacobean and beautiful. The video is interesting and gives context to Whitehall and the Banqueting Hall. They video also explains Charles I's execution.
The room is great. Take the time to walk about. Don't forget to take a look in the mirrors that show off the ceiling.
I hope you have a great time.
P.S I never hear London refered to as Old Smoke, but I can understand the reference.
Cheers!
