Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if I placed this in the right place but here goes:
I was just wondering if anyone has heard the song Marry Me by emilie autumn? I came across it a while back and when I actually payed attension to the lyrics I realised it was very similar to the story of Anne Boleyn. But then after googling the song I read that people seem to think its a reference to Catherine Howard. . soooo basically I just wanted to know what yous think of it. It's a pretty catchy song too.
Here is a link to the song on:

I like the song. The singer has an amazing voice. After listening and reading the lyrics, I would say the song was written about Katherine Howard. The reference to marrying an older man, taking lovers, wearing pretty things, and her quick demise.
There is an essence of Anne there, such as her death soon after marriage (not as soon as Katherine), but also her love of clothes and court life. However, Anne never took lovers, had Henry's child, and married him willingly.
Regardless, it's a good song that I will probably download to my mp3 device.

What a thought provoking tune. The first person who came to mind when I heard the song was a young Katherine Howard. I think it was her youth that made me think of Katherine. The girl marries the older, obviously richer man because she is forced to do so. But damn..she plans to make hay while the sun shines knowing full well she will be beheaded due to her lifestyle, and/or her husband's desire for a younger wife. She's going to take advantage of all the amenities that come with being a rich man's wife even though she doesn't think she will last very long in the marriage.

I've actually heard of Emilie Autumn but never heard her music! So cheers for posting this – I really like this tune, love the harpsichord and what a voice she has! I agree; it really fits Katherine's story rather than Anne's. But then perhaps all of Henry's later wives felt a little like this at one time or another, even if they didn't do anything about it!!!!!!!
I'll definitely be checking out more of her music now, so thank-you again!

This song is addictive! I've listened to it all day! Thanks for this
Me too! I downloaded the whole 'Ophealiac' deluxe album a couple of days ago (even though it was horribly expensive) and haven't stopped listening to it since

Oh my goodness! I love Emilie Autumn, and it never occurred to me that this song might be about one of Henry's wives. This totally made my day, a mix of my two favorite things ever! I agree that this definitely sounds like Katherine Howard. Poor girl, she was just so young and stupid… Anyway, this is now completely stuck in my head 🙂 !

I had heard some of her stuff before but not this song. Its great, very sad, although a bit tongue in cheek. I have downloaded her entire album now. I posted the song on my facebook page and it has inspired one of my good friends to start reading more into Catherine's story.

Just heard this song and I must say I like it! I really can’t decide who it is about. In a lot of ways it sounds like Anne but then in some ways it sounds like Katherine. Maybe it’s about both

I love Emilie Autumn, her music is so hauntingly beautiful. <3
I always associate ‘Marry Me’ with Katherine Howard, I think it fits with her life a little better than it does Anne’s and it always brings a tear to my eye!
I have read some comments online that it is about Marie Antoinette, I don’t know much about her life so cannot say anything about that.
Whoever it is about, though, it is really very powerful.
