I think all of us say much the same thing when it comes to Anne, Amberlyn. We don’t really know what it is about Anne that makes us love her so,
she just has that certain something or other that could almost be called an addiction.
Anne was (and still is) an inspiration to us all, she showed the world that any woman could easily do anything they wanted and to hell with the Man’s world claptrap. It’s my belief that she planted the seed of woman’s equality and that it really started to bear fruit in the days of Emmeline Pankhurst.
Anne gave us the great Elizabeth, the words in the film Anne of a Thousand days, Anne being played by the brilliant Genevieve Bujold and Henry by England’s Treasure Richard Burton) are actually quite right, “Elizabeth will build a world that could never build, she will be a greater Queen than any King of yours.”
But I also believe that Anne knew that, that would only come to pass, if she gave Henry the ultimate sacrifice, herself, and so “My blood will have been well spent” as Anne also says in the film.
If Anne could see into the world that she helped to build today, I think she would be tickled pink by the amount of champions she has.

Anne Boleyn of course. Not to be rude, but I believe this topic has been posted several times, so you might want to look through the forum and see if it has been produced by another member of our forum.
Why is Anne Boleyn my favorite?
In my opinion she was the most intelligent of the six wives having spent time in the French court of Francis I. She was well known to have discussed philosophy, politics, religious matters of the time (which was dangerous for both men & women) and could play musical instruments. She also spoke fluent French and understood French culture from her time at the French court.
Henry VIII was no doubt a womanizer. He had many mistresses that came and went when he got bored with them. For example Anne’s sister Mary. Henry had Mary Boleyn as his Mistress for a while until he got bored of her, like all the other women. Then Henry caught sight of Anne.
Anne by all accounts was an exotic beauty. Not what was considered a beautiful typical English girl but she wasn’t ugly by any means. Rather then pretty, Anne was “Sexy”. Anne saw the example of what happened to her sister and she did not let Henry go to bed with her. Henry VIII being king was never told no. In fact in my opinion, having a sexy woman like Anne Boleyn telling him no, turned him on. It gave him a challenge.
So therefor the challenge began. We all know about the trail of Catherine of Aragon and how in the end the Papal Court couldn’t approval because Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire who was Catherine Nephew had the Pope as his hostage which lead to the Church of England and Thomas Cranmer granting the divorce so Anne could Marry Henry and have her coronation to be queen.
Anne was a good queen in my opinion. I always think that a queen should be one of their home country. She did her best to help bring an end to papal dogma and convinced Henry to more liberal ideals. It was her enemies that turned Henry agaisnt her and her miscarriages from Henry being with Jane Seymour & the jousting accident.
Finally when she was arrested and went to trail; we can say for sure she was innocent. It was a mock trail just so Henry could have a new wife because he was sick of Anne and want an heir. She didn’t even have any laywers or witnesses on her behalf but if you look at her words at her trail she spoke with bravery and grace.
I can say the same for her execution as well. When I die, I hope I have as much bravery and strength as Anne did. She is an inspiration to us all.
Sure there are people that criticize her and say dumb things like the 6 fingers and she was a witch which is catholic propaganda which wasn’t even written until the mid 16th century. Was Anne perfect, no. But am I, no. Are you, no. But she was one of England’s best queen’s and if she would of had a longer reign the possibilities could of been endless; who knows what could of been done. But that is hypothetical.
That is why Anne Boleyn is my favorite of Henry VIII’s 6 wives.

Yes Ethan you are right there is indeed a similar posting on the forum, but given just how many topics there are, a double topic posting does crop up from time to time.
Yes I afraid there are some very dumb things said about Anne, not just what you have mentioned here either, somewhere I mentioned the bizarre claim made many years after her death that Anne also had a third nipple. Ha Ha.

There are so many threads here that it might be easier for some to start a new one.. Starting a new thread, even if there is an old one, is not a problem. We will gladly comment whichever way you choose.
Well said, Ethan.
I find Nicolas Sander’s work to be the main cause of most of the nasty things said about Anne. He was in exile as a Catholic, and could not abide Elizabeth’s reign. Therefore, he trashed her mother in order to make Elizabeth look like a woman who had no right to be on the throne. He was a very angry man. I try very hard to avoid his work as much as possible. It is so odd to me, that people in this day and age would take him at his word.

Although I do like them all for various reasons (catherine howard probably my least favourite) I have always admired and have been drawn to Jane Seymour, maybe it was just her nature and I find I would of had alot in common with her as I’m very submissive in ways and quiet so it’s a personality thing which I can relate to.
But the other wives I admired their strongness especially Catharine of Aragon who refused to give up the fight of losing the title as Queen of England and remaining to be Henry’s true wife.
