The show is nearly over, Katherine Howard is headlessly in her grave… But I'm convinced that all the sleeping with Anne of Cleves ruined the comprehension of this show for neophytes.
Just imagine: people who are not fond of history but who could have wanted to learn more after watching The Tudors may wonder: when Henry said “I like her after all”, he had the dreamy look he had for Jane Seymour, and when they are shown sleeping after lovemaking, they look simply and purly happy. So why is he marrying again when he can take her back? After all, now she'spretty, all of the king's children love her, and she acts with regal grace. We all know that Henry only lovedher as a sister, and never thought of taking her back, to her dismay, but there are people who are watching the show and who don't have our knowledge of events.
They definitly ruined what could have been an introduction to an hstorical period. Why don't they assume it, and rename the show ” The TV show vaguely inspired by the lives of some Tudors”?I can say what would be it ends: Henry runs to Anne and ends crying in her lap, apologizing for not understanding that she was made for himand beging her to comeback; there's a jump in future then, where a rehabiloitation of Cromwell, the man who knew what was good for the King before the King himself. Henry is sitting beside Anne, a hand on her swollen belly ( yes, a fairytale end, why not after all!). Philip of Bavaria miraculously came back and married Mary, with the result of another swollen belly. And, since we're in, Elizabeth aged again, married Robert Dudley and has guess what? The only one not to be here is Edward, because it wouldbe hard to give him the fairytale-esque swollen belly.
You surely understood that the lovemaking with Anne of Cleve and all the “I would have dies Culpeper's wife” finally broke the camel's back in my mind.

It was a strange plot really to have them back together but I think it is just the way this show works. The Tudors worked mainly with sexed up history(although I found the whole scene very sweet and one the few cute and humane scenes Henry had) and rumors…I couldn't believe how many historical anecdotes, however small found their way around the script.Back then,it was actually heard that the king got interest in his former wive and after Katheryn's fall,Anne had her hopes high that she would become queen again. Some rumors went as far as to claim that they had a daughter (crazy huh?Even crazier when I found someone on the web claiming that he is a descendant of them…Don't ask me how or if it is true)…

Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves?!?!?! Hahahahahahahahaha. Thanks, I needed a laugh this morning.
When I first stumbled upon this piece of information I fell of my chair laughing!!!!Especially the hidden from history and publicity descendants theory, very Dan Brown of them!
It was rumoured at the time that Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves had an illegitimate child, but as much as Anne seems to have wanted to remarry Henry after the fall of Catherine Howard I can't see Henry sleeping with her. I think they became good friends and his visits to her sparked off rumours.
I've had emails and comments from the person you mention. I'm not sure he's completely sane!

I’m actually in the process of re-watching the series right now. My first impression of this scene was this:
I got more of a feeling that Henry slept with Anne not for the purpose of sex, but merely enjoy the comfort of another person beside him who held no expectation of anything of him. He seemed to respect her grace and humble attitude after their divorce and did retain a place of honor with his family. It may have been refreshing to have a friend/sister at court he could may be just “Henry” with and not the King of England and Head of the Church to.
Who knows, I may change this line of thought after I get there. Right now, I am where Jane has just died and Henry is entertaining arts and crafts with charcoal. I think I even noted some drool on his beard. . .

Did you also notice Hannele, that whenever Fat arse (or should that be thin arse considering JRM didn’t wear a fat suit) played tiddly winks with his woman he was always very rough or so I think, but the scene with Anne C was one of very tender passion. When thin arse was cuddling up to Anne after the big show or small show depending on how you want to view it? There was a moment there that showed that for once he was content.
I totally agree with you though about how it also showed how totally selfish and hypocritical thin arse truly was. I also think it showed a little more of the spiteful nature of the real fat arse truly had. He didn’t kill K.H, because she betrayed him, although it was part of it, he killed her because by playing tiddly winks with Dereham before her marriage to him, and playing happy families with Culpepper (I don’t believe there was a sexual relationship between them) he was shown up truly for what he was, and old fat balding and possibly impotent man. Up until K.H’s naughty behaviour had been discovered he still saw himself as a golden sod I mean god.
