Please notice the polite question mark.
(I love costumes- historical, period pieces, fantasy movies etc, but I'v noticed that even if a costume is genious – as they were in “Iron Clad” a great movie I watched recently about Magna Carta- they always seem to get the shoes wrong!)
Did not the costume department on The Tudors think to feature in the fact that in the reign of Henry VIII a law had to be passed in an attempt to abate the width of mens shoes at court- as most men were starting to look like ducks?!
Is it just me who thinks it a shame that the Tudors men seamed to be wearing modorn day leather boots? Complete with short heal?

Haha no, they certainly didn't portray the wide shoes did they! Though I noticed in the last episode of season 4, Henry had the right shoes on when he was sitting for the portrait by Holbein.
I think they purposely decided to make the men wear boots as they are significantly more flattering, like the decision to leave out the cod-piece

You have bought up a very interesting discussion that to be honest I have never thought about. After reading the initial post I have come to the ralisation that I never ever look at what an actor is wearing on their feet. I'll notice everything about the costume but the shoes. The actors in the Tudors could have been wearing thongs/flip flops and I honestly would not have noticed. How bad am I?

I wish I had your affliction! I notice everything- like a victorian school ma'am! “that's not what happened- this did, they didn't wear that they wore this, a beard was unfashionable at this point but goatee was in- etc… No one- and I don't blame them, will watch historical movies, doco's or tv series with me anymore. Sigh.
