Anyone seen episode 3 yet? What does everyone think of Henry “visiting” (trying not to give too much away!) Anne of Cleves when he's supposed to be with Katherine? I thought it was a great scene – especially Anne's expression afterwards that she'd just done something very wrong indeed! Also Henrys interactions with Elizabeth are sweet, even though it bugs me that the actress playing her looks older than the 8/9 year old she would have been in real life.
Also I'm starting to like Katherine – the part where she was writing her pathetic letter to Culpeper was great. Jane Rochfords making fun of it when she was in bed with him later just made me hate her even more! So can't wait for that evil cow to get whats coming to her!

I was surprised by Henry's visit to Anne of Cleves too! And I am also sympathizing more and more with Katherine. I wish her story would end differently! I thought it was very mean of Jane to make fun of her letter to Thomas. However, I actually feel somewhat sorry for her. I think she just desperately wanted someone to love and protect her without a thought towards politics or ambition.
As for Elizabeth, I love the scenes with her and Henry, but the age difference bugs me too. So does the fact that the actress playing her is so horribly monotone! But, nonetheless, I still love the show and can't wait for next week's episode.

I think I'll have to rewatch the episode, since this episode made me like Katherine a bit less. Also, I still have no idea about Jane's motives. As an actress, I've been trying to figure out what Joanne King is using for her intentions in each scene and can't figure it out. It's an enigma. Regarding Anne of Cleves, poor Cromwell! Executed because Henry didn't like AofC but it turns out “I like her after all,” as he says. It was also poignant that Elizabeth was dancing at Hever Castle, her mother's home.
Ainsi sera, groigne qui groigne.

I'm loving the series so far. Anne of Cleves is definitely one of my favourite characters, she's so sweet and endearing. I can't quite imagine her saying yes to Henry's…proposition though, which is probably why they skipped over it! I suppose since she talked about enjoying being free, that might be something she would want to experience. She can never marry because Henry ditched her over a pre-contract, so she might not be so concerned about her reputation.
Surrey – he's irritating me, I can't put my finger on why.
Katherine – she's very sweet and vulnerable, which is going to make her impending doom seem even more tragic.
Elizabeth – a lovely scene, but my gosh she's wooden! Also, I hate her crimped hair, what's that about?
Jane Boleyn – definitely heading towards a well-deserved end.
Culpeper – I'm trying to decide if he's genuinely falling for Katherine. I'm still not sure.

Catching episodes 1-4 tonight (or trying to, anyway)…
Elizabeth–So stilted…though, perhaps, things between Henry and Elizabeth were a little awkward…And, I agree, crimped hair is stretching my suspension of belief a little bit.
Surrey–I don't know what to think of him, but I like him better than Edward Seymour. That doesn't say much, though. He does seem awful skeezy…
Thomas and Katherine–Gag…This is a high school romance at best. Blech! The longer it goes on, the more I wish they would just get caught all ready.
Jane Parker–Weird…just weird. And creepy. However, I can't feel bad for Katherine when Jane is making fun of her letter. As I recall, Katherine pulled the same thing with Cromwell's letter at the end of season 3, and, I daresay that Cromwell was in a sight more misery at the writing of his letter than Katherine was.
Anne of Cleves and Henry–Well, can't say I saw that coming…
Edward–I just found it so endearing…the scene between Henry and Edward when Henry asked Edward if he knew who his mother was and he pulled out a locket with her picture in it and her thimble. It brought tears to my eyes.
