How common was divorce in England in Tudor times?
I've often wondered if anyone low or high born could get divorced easily, we all know Henry did what about ordinary people? I've always been led to believe that divorce was difficult and so unlike like now. I remember my mother saying that none of her friends who got married in the 1950's (My parents married in 1952) got divorced as it was extremely difficult and had such a stigma about it. I think it used to take about 7 years to divorce or something like that.
I can't imagine many people in Tudor England being divorced.

Hi Sophie, I found this article http://www.guardian.co.uk/life…..-history
It was very tough for people to divorce. Not surprisingly, it was tougher for women than for men.
