Which of Henry’s men interests me? Mmmm, that’s a tough one!
For me the worse job would be groom of the stool. Even though it was one of the most prestigious, I think being in daily contact with Henry’s bum wouldn’t be my prefered choice of career option.
I think Henry VIII was very close to his male companions and servants. It’s why I consider him to be such a monster. The men he sacrificed on false charges were his friends who in many cases had served him all their adult lives and for much of their childhoods.

I could not agree more! It seems any job, which did not involve being near Henry and his bodily movements, is good with me!
As for Henry’s men…where do you want me to start?
Horrible Histories did a funny sketch about being Henry’s Groom of the Stool.

Henry VIII…Charles Brandon. I don’t know how he did it, but he remained a close friend and ally. Henry claimed to love all of his friends. Brandon is the only one I can think of at the moment who was with Henry from childhood and lived a full life. No thank you. With friends like Henry, who needs enemies? Thomas Cromwell is interesting. Wouldn’t want his job though.
Edward…his teachers, Roger Ascham John Cheke, Richard Cox and John Belmain. The Duke of Nortumberland. Thomas and Edward Seymour.
Henry VII…Jasper Tudor. He was Henry’s mentor and his caregiver during the early years. Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley, but I wouldn’t have wanted their jobs or their fates when Henry VIII came to power.
Groom of the Stool would be a disgusting job.

I don’t think I would want to be anywhere near the fat prat at all. I wonder if Henry snored? and what would happen if you farted in bed?
I’ve heard it said that when Henry’s leg became so infected, it smelled so bad that people could smell him coming, long before they saw him.
Kind of makes you look at K.P with renewed vision as she used to dress his leg and sit with him with his leg up on her lap.
