Thought I'd post something just for fun!
I was thinking about how some people would be great as a couple, it's purely for fun so let your imaginations go, lol!
I'm not basing it on ages or anything and I hope you understand where I'm coming from, just think of people from the Tudor/Elizabethan/Stuart era and match them up either for their looks or personalities…..whatever you want, it's just for fun!
Thomas More and Lady Jane Grey
Intellectual conversations between these two would be awesome, a match made in heaven
They would probably outwit each other, lol!

They would be a great couple!
Umm, let me think. All I'm getting is that Mary, QOS and Marie Antoinette would go for the same kind of guy, as both were fervently Catholic, and a bit… shallow. Which then made me think of matching them up with each other, but that would horrify both ladies, so I'm going to have to think some more.

Simply my opinion here:
Elizabeth I and William Marshall (okay, he's not from the Tudor period, so does he count?). Marshal seemed to enjoy the company of intelliegent women who were good conversationalists, witty, and shrewd. His own marriage to Isabel de Clare was based upon respect, love, fidelity, and commitment. Something Elizabeth always needed. Furthermore, they would be equals, and he would not upsurp E's role as Queen. The anti-thesis of Robert Dudley, and that's always a good thing.

I quite like Robin.. Although he certainly could have been more loyal- and less grasping!
Anne Boleyn and Walsingham- then due to his brilliant spy network, she would be magnificently informed! I would actually team her with her own choice- Northumberland, so she could queen it in the north!

Lady Jane Grey and William Cecil, Lord Burghley?
I just thought of Mary Boleyn and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk-I know that's quite random, I am not sure why I thought of it!
Mary of Scots and the 2nd Earl of Essex, Robert Devereaux?
Lettice Knollys and Benedict Arnold? No, only kidding…I admit to harboring an odd resentment toward Lettice the She-Wolf!!

Choosing these three couples purely for comedy value 😉
~ Nell Gwynn and Thomas Cromwell! Both rose from humble beginnings, and for some reason I think they'd be amusing together. Nell's sense of humour combined with Cromwell's slyness would make good material for any sitcom or soap opera, I think 😉 “Giggly Gwynn & Crafty Cromwell – what ever will they get up to next?! Stay tuned for next week's episode!”
~ Barbara Palmer/Villiers & Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norolk. What a match they'd make! Plus Barbara was supposed to have a bit of a temper, and I think she'd be good at keeping old Norfolk in check.
~ Charles I and Jane Seymour – I'm not sure why, perhaps because Charles was kinda shy and pretended to be confident (according to what I've read), and Jane (in my opinion) was an ambitious so-and-so and pretended to be shy and sweet!
This game is v.fun, I might come up with more

- Jane Grey/Edward Tudor (H8's son) — I have absolutely no idea why and I'm not sure if there is any historical basis to this, but I can always see these two together.
- Lettice Knollys/George IV — I just don't like Lettice, from what I've read, and I thought it would be funny to see her forced into a marriage with the, um, rather large, George IV, or maybe crazy Emperor Caligula, but I'm not sure he qualifies.
- Marie Antoinette/Henry VIII or Marie Antoinette/Charles Brandon — They just popped into my head, but maybe Henry won't execute Marie A. because she probably would give him a run for his money for conceit, or it would give him a reason to execute her. I won't even begin to try to understand H8's brain.
- Mary Boleyn/Charles Brandon — No idea why, again, but after watching re-runs of “The Tudors” they wondered into my head.

Katherine Of Aragon & Thomas more were the first to come to my mind…don't know why. ?
With thought though, Charles Brandon & Katherine Howard maybe. Charles in Tudors was very….uh sexually 'active' and Kitty was very vivacious and sexy and fun (or so i read!). They might not be a long lasting relationship but they'd sure had a good time together.
I also liked the thought of Katherine Parr and Thomas More. They were both very religious and serious.
As for Henry VIII…he just shoulda married an attractive baby maker. Seriously; a pretty, young, fertile robot. Pretty because he obviously would divore it before a year (cough cough Anne Of Cleves). Young because well maybe if she was lucky she'd outlive the tyrant. And fertile for very obvious reasons. And robot cause Henry liked his women to be quiet and keep their opinions to themselves and with a robot you could completely control it.

Here's some more…
~ Emmeline Pankhurst & Henry VIII – simply because I think she could argue her way out of an execution, and somehow manage to divorce Henry and get all their stuff 😉 A more ill-suited couple is hard to imagine!
~ Jane Grey and Martin Luther, perhaps? I can only imagine all the discussions they'd get into!
~ Diane de Poitiers and Charles Brandon. Couldn't say why, they just popped into my head!
(btw, just reread my previous list and am feeling very ashamed of my comment about Jane Seymour calling her an “ambitious so-and-so”; remembering now, I think I wrote it when I was feeling very tired and a tad grumpy, because I certainly didn't mean to sound that rude O_o )
Anyway, here's another list, this time throwing modern day people into the mix… =)
~ Stephen Fry and Catherine Parr
~ Mary Boleyn and Colin Firth
~ And last but not least, Avril Lavigne and Mark Smeaton – both into music! I imagine they could write some pretty good songs together, a mix of modern pop/rock and Tudor court music <3
