How do you think history would have been different if the daughter born to Katherine and Henry on the 9th of November 1518, had survived? This is something I think of quite often. What would her name have been? what do you think her personality and temperament would have been like? I think the survival of a second daughter would have significantly weakened Henry’s claim that his marriage to KOA was cursed, and definitely bolstered Mary’s case… Would he have even pursued a divorce? If so, How would Henry deal with TWO bastards during his marriage to Anne? Would he have had them both wait upon Elizabeth? or have them separated? I think (from Henry’s point of view) it would have been wise to separate the sisters, as it would be easier to possibly weaken their resolve and get them to acknowledge their illegitimacy. Do you think Mary would have been quite as emotionally damaged later in life if she had a sister to support and confide in? Would this sister remain unmarried and childless like Mary? What would her reign be like after Mary’s death? Who would she marry? Would she marry? If she died childless, how would her reign have impacted on Elizabeth’s? For me this is one of the most interesting tudor ‘what if’s’ even more so than if KOA or Anne had had a living son. Is there any other factors you can think of that would have been impacted by her survival?
