I just found out by default that Natalie Dormer who played Anne in the Tudors is a descendent of Jane Dormer, close confidant of Mary 1. I kind of get the feeling that they may have been a little more than “bosom buddies’ Does anyone have some information on her and her relationship with the Tudors? I understand she was a childhood chum of edward Henry and Janes son….

Huh. Kind of ironic that a descendent of such a close ally of Mary should play the woman Mary despised above all others on TV.

Jane Dormer was a favourite lady in waiting to Queen Mary. Jane fell in love the Duke of Feria one of the men who came over with Philip of Spain.
After Mary’s death in 1558 Jane married her Duke and they went off to Spain together.. They had 2 children together.. Lorenzo who inherited the Feria title on his father’s death, and Pedro who only lived 3 months.
When Jane went to Spain she also took with her Susan Clarendeux another one of Mary’s favourite maids and I believe Susan had been with Mary for many years.
Upon her husband’s death in 1571 she took over the running of his estates so was quite a formidable lady .
In 1609 she had an accident which she never really recovered from, she was bedridden by 1611. She died in January 1612 and was attended by 7 Priests.
